LEAVE A COMMENT Today, we regretfully heard news that the Romanian Constitutional Court is upholding the "stray-killing" law, consigning thousands of stray dogs to death after 14 days of detention in public dog pounds.

Doubt this is something that will go down in their travel guides..."Come visit the Country who Kills all their strays, and a few who weren't."

The human race keeps sinking lower each day. It is a worldwide problem of butchering animals, killing closevti extinction... I really do not think humans as a species deserves to be here. We are destroying precious animals and the environment is a mess.

There is no question this is heinous! No matter how poor a country is, there's no excuse for extreme animal abuse. The Romanians have been offered free veterinary help from various countries and those services were refused. This condition is well on its way to being an international embarrassment and shame against a once beautiful and respected country!

What does one say? The animals there are homeless only because the people there do not take responsibility for them. Now the animals are paying for the stupidity of the people. I hope this is indeed an embarrassment as Vivian suggests. There has to be something to get these barbaric people to stop.
The world could be such a good and beautiful place-if we wear not in it. Animals are not perfect but they sure are not us.

So sad and frustrating that it could come to this. Why didn't they do something before now, they can't be that backwards to not know spay and neuter works! Can we petition to EU to stop this needless slaughter?

Noted & Signed. My comment:
This very bad decision on the part of the Romanian Govt. to uphold such a regressive law is not only very inhumane but will be totally ineffective as a long-term solution. The inability of the Romanian officials to really look at the evidence in an objective and impartial manner and to be so short-sighted is what has led to this problem in the first place. Their lack of will in reaching out to organizations such as the WSPA in creating a viable, effective, and humane solution to this situation is neither fair to so many innocent stray dogs nor is it real justice to the child as the actual culprit in this crime may have completely evaded justice by such a limited focus.

What a horrible way to deal with strays. Why don't these people care about strays?

It is the fault of humanity not these poor dogs. Trap, neuter, release, is the only thing that works - together with feeding to make sure they don't get ill.

If they treat innocent animals like this - how will they treat humans if given the chance?
