VIRAL ACTION NEEDED Save BC's Great Bear Region From Enbridge's Tar Sands Pipeline!

Business  (tags: over 800 oil spills since 1999, from Alberta to Kitimat, would cross many rivers, the Rocky Mountains and pristine wildern, ship the raw crude to China, Spirit Bear, devastate fragile marine ecosystems for )

BC's Great Bear Rainforest (the world's largest remaining coastal temperate rainforest) is under siege! Plans endorsed by Canada's Government are underway to build the 1170 km long Northern Gateway pipeline to pump crude,

Thanks for posting this. I live on Vancouver Island and we do not want to see this pipeline go through. The waters through which the large vessels would have to sail (not to mention the forests, mountains and rivers the pipeline would cross) are tricky to navigate and home to endangered species. The Harper government has silenced any scientist with an opinion critical of the pipeline and the television and radio are filled with propaganda the fool people into supporting this disaster in the making. U've seen how the Oilsands looks because of this garbage, I don't want to see this place of such natural beauty end the same way.

Signed and noted. As fuel prices rise and more marginal energy projects become economic, more tar sand and shale oil developments will be undertaken, all with their environmental hazards in extraction, transportation and use. Personally, I'm sick of reading about bloody tar sand projects putting unique eco-systems at risk. When will energy companies understand that oil production from such sources are still cost prohibitive both in an economic and environmental sense, hence unviable in the long-run, and that alternative energy development projects would make far sounder, long-term investment sense?

Signed. Tar sands destroy the soil, kill plants and trees, animals die. Stop greedy oil companies.

Noted and signed. I am just sick over this! Premier Christy Clark you have betrayed us all, and Prime Minister Harper, you don't seem to care about the environment at all!!! We will fight again to stop this pipeline, and I Stand with the First Nations communities who will not give up the fight. This would have adverse effects on their communities & culture. The Great Bear Rainforest is so very unique, with the Spirit Bears, which are not found anywhere else in the world, There are so many streams that the salmon spawn in, that the Bears - Spirit Bears, Grizzly Bears & Black Bears, the sea Wolves, and all the birds feed off of. Then there are all the marine animals in the Great Bear Sea. Does 'Tremor Is,' perhaps give an idea of how dangerous the waters are, that tankers will be using. Kitimat, & Hartley Bay & Vancouver Is. will all feel very negative effects. One Oil spill will be a disaster for the whole coast of B.C. Has to be stopped!!!!!
