The wheels of justice turn slowly, but the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has finally charged disgraced circus supplier Lance Ramos with violating the Animal Welfare Act five years after it confiscated a starving Ned Photo: Elephant Sanctuary

Dear Kelly,
For some reason, I can't link to this story. When I click on visit site,
page not found just pulls up. Can you post the URL to this story. It sounds like finally the USDA is charging this man with violating the Animal Welfare Act but they waited 5 years to do it! I hope this man gets a prison sentence now and is never allowed to supply elephants to circuses again- an awful fate for any elephant- nothing but cruelty for elephants at circuses so that we can be entertained?! I hope that poor Ned finally gets to go to a sanctuary to live out the remainder of his life! Thanks Kelly for this good news.

Ned did get to live for a few months at the Elephant Sanctuary in Tennessee, before succumbing to his chronic malnutrition. I am glad at least a tiny bit of justice has been mete out on his behalf...
