My four year old Golden, Linus has recently shown "aggressive" behavior towards certain other dogs (a German Shepard and a Rottie in particular). He's very gentle and sweet but during walks we will cross paths with certain dogs

Noted My dogs love their walks and make many friends along their path. They do not have any problems nor do they bark at other dogs even if the dog is barking at them. But it is true that two male dogs that are not neutered tend to be aggressive towards one another as it only nature and dominance. This was the first time I heard of one being neutered and one not to be aggressive, to me it seems unlikely. But allowing the dogs to introduce themselves slowly is a great way for them to have interaction with other dogs.

I didn't really find that the trainer completely answered the question. Dogs have a body language that is all their own, and if you pay attention, you can tell when another dog coming towards you is acting dominantly or not. It sounds like this has been going on and the owner has been oblivious. It would have been easier to slow down, have his dog sit, and wait to greet the other dog. Now he has to go back and re-train.

Dogs are not born to be bad; train them and respect them

I never have a problem with my dogs when I walk them, they are good kids.
