The survey consists of work from 60 scientists who, along with conservation staff, spent 91,600 person-days from 2002-2011 tracking elephants in Cameroon, Central African Republic, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Gabon and the Republic of Congo.

By the way Nyack, Obama may be the only leader world wide to give money to protect endangered species, but it was Richard Nixon was signed the Endangered Species Act in 1973. Without this piece of legislation, nearly all the big cats, and elephants would have been destroyed by now.

China's insatiable greed for ivory must be stopped! This is an absolute tragedy!, The elephant population is being decimated, many large tuskers (males) are already gone and the murder rate is becoming higher than the birth rate!
