There are serious welfare concerns for sheep on every stage of their hellish journey. Tens of thousands don't survive the sea voyage and those that do are handled, transported and slaughtered in a way that would be neither legal nor tolerated in Australia.
This meat may then sit on a supermarket shelf in the Middle East, right next to other Australian meat that was sent there in a box, after the animal was humanely slaughtered in Australia.

The RSPCA believes the welfare argument to end the trade in live sheep has been made.

Thanks,Gypsy - concerns of compassion have fallen on deaf ears for years - but now that it's shown NOT to be as economically important as they've led us to believe.........*sigh* well, it'll probably STILL fall on deaf ears!
But we'll keep on plugging away!

I'm glad you posted this, I was trying to post it myself but am not smart enough yet to figure out how.
I know you said for Aussies only but I would suggest an international response would carry greater weight, after all I add my name to any lists whether they be in the USA, Canada, the UK or wherever. It may make our Prime Minister sit up and take more notice knowing the international community is watching.

Well, maybe so, Merv, but I reckoned this one having the drop down list of states pretty well restricted it to Aussies - or anyone who has an Aussie address they can "borrow" -for instance I have a friend overseas who uses her sister's address in Victoria.

Latest depressing info from RSPCA -
