The Russians are going to stop killing baby bears but the Canadians won't stop killing a million and a half baby seals a year?

it makes me so happy when countries who are known for animal cruelty come to our way of thinking & stop killing innocent animals i just hope more countries follow & stop the killing of countless innocent creatures

Great news. Now its time for Canada to take notice, if one super-power can ban a senseless and cruel massacre, so can Canada.

I know I signed petitions on this. I'm glad to realize that we are making great strides in stopping animal abuse. Now if we could just get Canada to follow suit with the Seal Hunt!!

Wonderful news! It's a good start, but why are there still periods that they can continue this terrible practice? Why don't they ban it permanently? Like Vladimir said, all wild life in Russia has already been destroyed. Thanks Chaplain!

This is good news, but the article says that the hunting season has been greatly reduced. As I figure, it is still 6 months that is A LOT of time!!!

"The new law significantly reduces the hunting season for bears and specifically excludes the winter season when bears are hibernating in their dens. Brown bear can be hunted during two different time periods: 1 April to 31 May and from August 1 to November 30. Hunting of the Asiatic black bears now is allowed only from 1 August to 30 November."
