Interesting. Stress is certainly an ongoing problem but different societies sometimes deal with it in other ways.
I am amazed how much the American health care system costs, similar operations and other health care services are delivered at a far lower cost in my country and other western nations with universal health care.

Me, I'm in almost.perfect health. My doctor, when I got my yearly exam, said, "I don't mess with perfect."
Five years ago I was dying -- diabetes, much pain - heart problems - teeth - eyes. The body was falling apart. The doctor got mad at me because I kept coming back. I was in so much pain and he couldn't make it ease. That was the best thing that could have happened to me, I was sick, physically, mentally and spiritually. Doctor's could not help me.
I decided if I got healed spiritually, the rest would follow. I got right with Creator and got out of my gay life style. I got off all the meds I had been on with the help of natural health experts. My mind healed according to three psychs. My teeth healed according to xrays before and after. The pain was GONE!!! I got a promotion and a raise at work. I got out of debt.

I don't find that "reason" surprising! I also live in Europe but after years of harassment on my place of work, I have finally caught multiple sclerosis. So I'm convinced permanent stress is the worst of things.

It seems to me that corporations are using our media to brainwash us all. They start with our little kids, and tell them what they should ask their moms to buy for them, what clothes to wear, how they should look, etc. Even in schools, kids are able to buy themselves all kind of junk food.
Unfortunately most of us seem just to go along with it. America wake up, and go back to the old-fashioned basic way of living.

Too dam many free choices, uneducated and quick-fixed, because we can.
To be continuallly pushed further and faster is not progress, nor does it hold up in the long term. As the old group peels off due to the stress of the "new norm" into the healthcare system, the new kids will step in to fill their spots, each generation sinking further toward the inevitable end.
As always, we are our own worst enemy ... no thought until a situation presents in-you-face call to attention. How dumb is that?

Stress may be indeed harmful to the immune system, but I think the poor quality of food may be another. Where in the world is so much corn syrup, antibiotics, chemical colouring, preservatives and GMO to name a few things, a normal ingredient in food? The combination of both stress and these ingredients may wreck havoc on the nations health.
