The prosecution of pregnant women for drug use represents the unhappy convergence of the war on drugs and the war on reproductive rights.

uuaaarrrRRRrrggggg, the "War on Drugs" -- it ain't no war on drugs, it ain't even a "war on some [and the wrong ones at that drugs]; it's a war on consciousness and freedom, a "war" not meant to be won, and an instrument of social cleansing, and part of the war on "the 99%" (and all of Eaarth)

Agree with David E, drugs are just the excuse.

Noted. However, I think we all can agree that using drugs while pregnant is NOT a good thing. Treatment is the answer, not jail. However, some people don't want to quit, pregnant or not. Then what happens?

Noted. Thanks, Freya. As the article states, these women need health care not prosecution. Another disgusting case of the wealthiest women doing whatever they please without consequence; while the poorest are being targeted. And, if someone wealthy does end up prosecuted, they will have plenty of money for an excellent lawyer. Sigh!

So punishing dumb women for bringing crack babies into the foster system is a bad thing now?

Let's not kid ourselves, we knew it would be matter of time before women end up getting blamed for yet one more thing.
