Last month, more than 15,000 scientists from 184 countries issued a dire warning to humanity. Because of our overconsumption of the world's resources, they declared, we are facing "widespread misery and catastrophic biodiversity loss."

Wow! Powerful article. Thanks for sharing. I followed the link to Climate Mobilization Victory Plan and joined the organization. It advocates for a full mobilization to re-create the economy (similar to what the US did during WWII) to face the Climate Crisis. If we could do it for war, why can't we do it for life?

Why is it so difficult for the wealthy to put a share of profits, and even reduce their profit margins, in the interests of the planet and People at large?

To be honest - there are quite a few of the "new rich" who do just that. It seems to me that the worst offenders are not those who've made their fortunes from scratch, by having the insight to spot a potential market & build to meet that potential ... No - it's those who were born into wealth who hang on to every chance they have to swell personal benefit. Why? They can't take it with them at the end of the line. Some of them blow their profits by going bankrupt - but that's usually with other people's money (Yes, I'm also thinking of DT there!!!), and they usually have a 'personal float' that could see them through several lifetimes - even with their luxury lifestyles! But those are the people reaching out for more profits (and to hell with the cost to the planet, long term losses, of those businesses that can and are ripping out maximum immediate profits). And they raise their children/ heirs to have the same mindset.

Another good article - thanks, Freya
