Smithfield Foods, which has been accused for years of being one of the cruelest factory farm companies around, is also a supplier of pork to McDonald's, which recently gave Smithfield a "supplier sustainability" award for corporate responsibility. It has

well, whatever their (ridiculous) claims (as we very well know that corporations would never ever lie to us, don't we?), i consider it certain that
well (or rather: just the opposite),
1) Capital-fasc-ism makes a mess out of everything, necessarily [ and (imho) humankind will have to get rid of this $ick $y$tem (fast!) as a matter of survival.] and
2) Animal-production makes a much bigger mess than plant-production [unavoidably (as animal-production includes much plant-production)]
and, furthermore, ost (like 90%) of human's intake of many toxins (e.g. Dioxin (TCDD)) is from animal fats;
THUS the reasonable and ethical thing to do is:
=> cut out the crap ! => GO VEG____AN !

I never eat at McDonald's but those who do should stop eating there. If you eat there and do not stop you are endorsing the torture of the pigs.

The very reason why everyone should become a vegetarian!
It all comes down to corporations (Smithfields Foods & McDonalds) making money (and tons of it), lying, and savagely killing these poor pigs and piglets for pure profit without any regard of any sort of any kind of quality of life. These poor animals! They will never feel any sort of happiness!!!!!!!!!!!Noted

I would be interested in knowing facts, not just accusations and inuindo. If Smithfield still uses gestation crates, then they are, indeed, contributing to animal cruelty. If they can prove otherwise, why don't they do so? If they do not use them, then permit Dr. Grandin to inspect their facilities and state so. I think Smithfield's spokesmwoman, Paul Dean, also needs to be involved, and maybe the public should contact HER and ask her to come forward if they expect the public to buy the product she endorses.

Whoops, that is PAULA Dean, not "Paul Dean". I'm referring to the woman with the southern accent that has the cooking show, has authored books and is constantly being interviewed on TV. She has an image to back up (defend), and maybe she won't want to have her face plastered all over the internet next to photos of sows in gestation crates. Just a suggestion, of course!

Anyone who eats in these places contributes to the obsenity that is the factory farm.

Not necessarilly, Jan. Many items have nothing to do with meat, so it's up to the customer to order"accordingly". If I go to McDonald's to get an ice cream cone, why would I be patronizing a factory farm? They also offer salads and other "fare". I'm certainly not endorsing McDonald's, just saying it's up to everyone to do their homework and act accordingly.

It's all lies. If you're eating animals, you're contributing to both environmental damage AND animal suffering and cruelty all at the same time. These corporate double-speaking shysters can try to spin it however they wish, but NOTHING will obscure this fact, and a fact it surely is.

Want to stop cruelty to animals AND environmental damage AND corporatists profiting at the expense of animals and environment? Very simple. STOP CONSUMING ANIMALS. Problem solved immediately!

I once again would like to say i'm surprised by what some large corporation is doing underhandedly but I'm not. I am pleasantly surprised when I hear the opposite though, unfortunately not the case here.

Rather than eat at McCruelty's, go to TacoBell for a bean burrito, or Wendy's for a baked potato. Do it for your health and for the poor suffering animals.

Of course they are lying! I've been boycotting McDonalds for years because of the way the chickens from their supplier are treated. It's absolutely horrifying. These poor animals aren't seen as living beings to these people, they are nothing more than products that make money. Be a lifesaver and go veg!!
