Hospitals are NOT what they used to be!

I remember almost being sent home three hours after having my baby. The nurse came in and secretly told me that that particular doctor always wanted to free up beds and to not sign myself out.
This is so sad to read. It's as if the hospital considers its patients nuisances.

I don't have the best experience in hospital, myself you need to be your own advocate to protect and make sure you get all the care you're entitled to otherwise, always go to the next person in charge, the chain of command, they get pay to care for you, so why not utilize it.

i hope at least he ordered room service meals and got the premium pay per view and ate those expensive nuts in the mini fidge. it's not much but many his last moments at least cost the hospital a few bucks with $20 peanuts. seriously how cruel to find your spouse dead becasue a dollar is more important then a human life.

Given the choice of a hospital bed or a hotel bed, I would probably choose the hotel. But to not have any scheduled checks of the patient and no panic or nurse call buttons is wrong.

i don't think it's a horrible idea, but they clearly need an around the clock nurse at the hotel.

AND, there are people out there that think we don't need healthcare reform?
It only matters to some, when it hits home. Guess what? That's called hindsight, not foresight.

What can one say beyond the obvious? Just awful.

We can only hope that lessons will be learned and this never happens again.

The insurance companies make the hospitals discharge people because of their stupid guidlines. They stop paying and the hospitals get rid of the patients.

Insurance companies too often make medical decisions and doctors have their hands tied by the process.

This is horrible. Just leaving a vulnerable cancer patient alone in a hotel room - I presume without a telephone or other communications device - is insufferable. And now his wife has no husband, her daughters have no father, and all his friends probably mourn him. These things happen, but this instance was totally negligent. The authorities should find out what person or persons let it happen. I don't care if there was a mob in the hospital. All patients should have been keenly supervised.

This is TERRIBLE. This man should have been monitored around the clock. You don't give people chemo and then leave them on there on. My brother died from cancer and I know how this works. God Bless this man and may he RIP. And I pray God will comfort his wife and family!!!!
