I also try to never waste food. Make a stew out of leftover cooked veggies and potatoes, freeze leftovers for a meal next week, smother anything with pasta sauce or hide it in a burrito with salsa- most leftovers or excess food can be repurposed into a new meal somehow!

Of all the things American food waste could be the most disturbing when so many go hunger. Yes, it is good for families to minimize food waste but the most disturbing is restaurants where left over or spoilage could and should be given to soup kitchens daily. This is where we could stop the waste while helping those less fortunate than we are in this country.

At home we're very conscious about food waste and always make it a point to 'recycle' leftovers, rather than overeating or throwing food away. We adapt recipes according to any gluts we might have, say using white sauce if we're stuck with extra milk. Freezing vegetables in season is also a great way of saving; we always freeze bread and defrost only as many as we reckon we can consume during one day. Thanks for sharing!
