Over 10 million senior households struggle to meet basic needs and may not be able to afford their rent or utilities. One out of every three seniors is living below or near the poverty line. Nearly 9 million older Americans are at risk of hunger.

As a low income senior, I'm always wrenched when I come across homeless seniors (even more than if I weren't always so close) THANK YOU for posting these AARP pledge sites to help seniors - - -

The situation is exactly the same in the UK.. Grrrrrr !!

Many senior citizens are paying their bills & having to claim help for food from 'FOODBANKS'..to exist...
And they're the 'Lucky' ones who aren't homeless, YET..
Though that situation is about to change because of what the current Government has set for the criteria..
Changes ARE happening... And NOT for the better... Grrrrr !!
God help the older generation, who have given so much of their lives for this country, only to be treated like this, now, when they need help the most... They are being Denied... It makes me so angry... Grrrrrr :-(

Fortunately I'm still employed and I really have a hard time cutting back on charitable donations when there are so many out there who have nothing and depend on all of us who do donate. Still with 65 approaching so quickly I might have to cut back.

It was once said that the moral test of government is how that government treats those who are in the dawn of life, the children; those who are in the twilight of life, the elderly; and those who are in the shadows of life, the sick, the needy and the handicapped.
Hubert H. Humphrey Vice President

The USA is failing badly......I certainly signed.
