I recently signed a petition for this on Change.org/ and the law suit alleges that Starbuck employees actually mocked the customers that happened to be deaf. Something is very wrong in that store, an idiot would know better than to treat a customer with abuse.

One of the big problems in this situation is that I'm sure Starbucks, like every other employer hires and fires tons of young, inexperienced "part-time" people without making sure they are properly trained to handle customers or even checking into their work ethic.

I have to say that starbucks is one of the biggest offenders of stashing their money overseas..
and HOW they can charge $7 for a damn coffee is BEYOND ME
but anyhow onto the point:

First if I saw that behavior a few people would have been dropped kicked...stuff like that burns my ASS..I wonder why things like that never happen in front of me..perhaps its the universes way of keeping me out of jail..lol
second these people suing WILL WIN, this is a violation of the disabilities act and blatant harrassment/discrimination.

time for starbucks to go DOWN! sensitivity training needs to be mandatory in ALL customer service positions

One day, I took my grandfather out for lunch at his usual eatery after he made his lunch into a a burnt offering to the toaster oven god. We had a new server who didn't know him --- generally the staff greeted him by name and automatically brought him a cup of tea, that is how well he was known. When he didn't hear the server's question, I repeated her question more slowly and directly. You see, my grandfather was very hard of hearing at 93 years old. He responded. Then the server had another question for him and asked me. I simply replied "Ask him yourself. Speak clearly and more slowly. He is hard of hearing, not stupid!" If you think I was annoyed, you'd be right.

There all sorts of assumptions we make about people. There is the saying "to assume makes an ass out of u and me."

Having grown up around disabled people all my life, mobility impaired, mental and emotional impairment, deaf, blind, etc perhaps I learned to be more accepting from the very beginning. When I broke my ankle and was in a wheelchair for 2 months, I was invisible when I was shopping. It is time these attitudes stopped.

I would like to say 'fire the employees' but I am not sure that would help. That might only harden their attitudes. Sensitivity training would be good, and maybe wiring their mouths shut and wearing ear plugs for a week might teach them what they really need to know!

Signed

Maybe we can find out who these b*****ds are and treat them the same way and see how they like it. Seems to me sensitivity and humanity training should be a very important part of the job. Not only here, but every where.
