In a perfect world, cows wouldn't be consumed in the first place.During this lifetime, we must demand that animals killed for food be spared gratuitous pain and suffering.cows chained upside down by one leg.Muscles and tendons rip apart as the terrified..

Just remember that "kosher" and "halal" have NOTHING to do with mercy for the animal whatsoever. It's about the "cleanliness" of the flesh and are basically dietary guidelines, not "merciful killings of animals" as some maintain.

There is NO SUCH THING as "humane slaughter." The term is an oxymoron, and HONEST people will admit this.

"I will continue to be a vegetarian even if the whole world started to eat meat. This is my protest against the conduct of the world. In relation to [animals], all people are Nazis; for the animals, it is an eternal Treblinka. How can we speak of rights and justice if we take an innocent creature and shed its blood? When a human kills an animal for food, he is neglecting his own hunger for justice. Man prays for mercy, but is unwilling to extend it to others. Why should man then expect mercy from God? It's unfair to expect something that you are not willing to give. It is inconsistent. I can never accept inconsistency or injustice. Even if it comes from God. If there would come a voice from God saying, 'I'm against vegetarianism!' I would say, 'Well, I am for it!' This is how strongly I feel in this regard." --Isaac Bashevis Singer

Mr. Singer, whose family are survivors of the Jewish Holocaust of the 1940s and who is a Nobel Laureate well understood the true role that religion plays in the oppression and exploitation of other species. He was never fooled.

No kosher, no halal, no flesh. This is heartbreaking and am sharing it with all my family and friends.
Who the f....k do we think we are to do this to another sentient being!!??
It's OK though, the catastrophic solar storms are coming. And, we deserve all we are going to get.
It will be a true, "eye for an eye". What a sick life form we are.
Am sorry for the gentle, kind people out there, like my little son, who are going to perish with the rest of us.
Point final!
Check out NASA regarding solar storms intensifying.

This is one reason I don't eat meat and as a vegan Jew I find this horrid. For the record I am merely a cultural l and historical Jew and an atheist. If there actually was a God I would hope he would not let animals be treated like this. One more reason not to believe.

Signed. The things done in the name of religion is unbelievable. God surly would not want these animals to suffer. The Rabbi needs to be hung by one leg for several minutes to show him the pain the animals endure.

The very people you would expect to show empathy and compassion seem to be the cruelest and all the name of religion ,these animals give their life so man can eat , the very least these poor animals deserve a-quick and as painless a death as possible ,why are they made to suffer, they would be terrified ,smelling the blood ,they can smell death-shame on those involved.

Valda P. said, "...these animals give their life so man can eat..."

NO

These animals do NOT 'give their lives,' humans take these lives at will, because we can. And the 'so we can eat' is also a fallacy as humans evolved to eat a vegetarian diet, and we are NOT "omnivores" as it is claimed by those who represent the animal industries. We don't "need" flesh to live and be healthy, it's always been a sign of conspicuous consumption, a status symbol, and substitute 'sacrifice' as people wanted to appease angry gods but wouldn't give up their own children, of course, so they took the children of other species and readily killed *them*.

Put into context, none of this empathetic or compassionate. And I do, wholeheartedly agree with you about humans who have suffered seemingly being blind to cruelty they themselves perpetrate.

"Never be afraid to do what's right, especially if the well-being of a person or animal is at stake. Society's punishments are small compared to the wounds we inflict on our soul when we look the other way...One day the absurdity of the almost universal human belief in the slavery of other animals will be palpable. We shall then have discovered our souls and become worthier of sharing this planet with them." --Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr.

Like Isaac Bashevis Singer, Reverend King also saw the connections. He was able to take his own experience and apply it directly to the suffering of others. These two men are model for those who still use the tire, outmoded excuse of "it's my culture" to excuse what they do to other species for their own pleasure and convenience.

May God repay the doer of what is bad according to his own badness!!!

A thought... In Genesis, the first book of the Bible, when God gave Adam dominion over the birds of the air, the animals, the fish, etc., do you think he meant total control as to destroy at will as well? No he did not, in Aramaic this word "domain" actually means "the responsibility for the care of all of his Creation" (GOD).

Hell, if there is one, must be a really HUGE place. Terms "Rabbi", "Kosher" , "halal", etc. apparently are empty words for they go against the grain of mercy and compassion for animals. This is why I detest blind allegiance to outdated "religious" traditions. If what we do on this earth does not evolve TOWARD compassion, then it is not worth doing. We either progress toward good and stop regressing to bad. Any philosophy that does not embrace this type of progress is not worth embracing.

This is horrifying, how one can do this.I dont think that God or any religion will allow animals to suffer like this.God doesnt want at any cost to torture and kill animals in this way.Why cows and buffaloes have to be killed. Are they meant to be consumed as food.I cant believe that they are so inhuman and merciless.Poor cows!! how much more they have to suffer. It should be stopped at once.

I think the petition is going to the wrong person. The Chief Rabbi has absolutely no authority over industry, only domestic law among Jews, administrative matters of Jewish holy sites, and I think some matters relating to the Jewish Right of Return law (regarding who qualifies).

Also, humane treatment of animals during their lives, up to the regular standards of the society, is a requirement for them to be considered kosher. In addition, a specific form of slaughter is required: One stroke across the neck with a blade in which the animal loses all sensation too quickly to express pain.

Petition signed. I really dislike humans. I have much more respect for animals than humans. All animals have a purpose. Humans don't as far as I can tell.
