WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Former Vice President Dick Cheney said on Sunday he was unhappy with then-President George W. Bush's refusal to pardon Lewis "Scooter" Libby, Cheney's onetime chief of staff who was convicted in the CIA leak case.

"I was clearly not happy that we, in effect, left Scooter sort of hanging in the wind," Cheney said in an interview on CNN's "State of the Union with John King." He acknowledged a "fundamental difference of opinion" with Bush on the matter.

A federal jury in Washington convicted Libby of lying and obstructing an investigation into who blew the cover of CIA officer Valerie Plame, whose husband, former Ambassador Joseph Wilson, had criticized the Iraq war.

Bush earlier commuted Libby's 2-1/2-year prison sentence but before leaving office in January, Bush refused to give Libby an outright pardon.

Cheney said Libby had been unjustly accused and deserved a pardon but Bush disagreed. It was one of the few areas that Cheney has publicly said he disagreed with Bush on during their eight years in the White House.

In other comments, Cheney continued his criticism of President Barack Obama's national security policies, saying they "raise the risk to the American people of another attack."

Will Dick ever be happy again?...Does he deserve to be?...

Usual Repukelican SCARE TACTICS. We can expect much more of the same, all thruout President Obama's two terms! Revomits will do and say ANYthing to obstruct Obama. They obviously WANT him to "fail"; and the country to fail with him; just to prove the People were "wrong" to repudiate Repunks! Rush Limbaugh is their leader up FRONT; Cheney, as ever, still the Repuke leader behind-the-scenes.

You want scare tactics? How about the lie Obama keeps feeding us about being in the worst recession since the great depression? Keep feeding us doom and gloom so we acqiesce to his horrendous spending bills destined to soften us up for more social meddling from big government. No thanks. If that's all the Dumocraps have to offer, we are sunk already.

We are sunk. Everything is lies lies lies. They are only using us, and it does not even matter who is president.

Why do the American people blindly accept the lies given them by the people they 'freely' elected to govern them?..."They are only using us" John...Why do you fall into silence and let them?...

You forget David, we are now not so free. We have to watch what we say or will be labeled a terrorist and exiled from this place. Anything we say can and will be held against us, so that is only leaving the rich and powerful left to speak out and most of them are Repukicans. America, Land of the scared to speak.

David Buchan:

FYI: Cheney and Bush weren't "freely" elected, in fact they weren't elected at all, but were INSTALLED in office due to a 5 to 4 decision by the Supremos, dirty tricks Repug operatives, smear campaigns, character assassinations, purged voterfiles, and the millions of "missing votes," among other things to guarantee their boys would get the keys to the kingdom.
