Thousands of people have been protesting in London, Berlin and Frankfurt ahead of next week's G20 summit. What do you think are the most pressing issues facing the world's economy?

In London the Put People First alliance of 150 charities and unions marched from Embankment to Hyde Park for a rally to demand action on poverty, climate change and jobs.

In the run up to the summit, the BBC World Service and World TV are hosting an edition of Global Questions. On the panel are businessman Victor Chu, founder member of the Bank of England's Monetary Policy Committee DeAnne Julius, Russian politician Alexander Lebedev, economist Adam Posen, and the Archbishop of York John Sentamu.

The G20 will meet on Thursday and some of the options the leaders may discuss include further interest rate cuts and government spending, stronger international regulation of banks and financial institutions, and preventing a slide towards protectionism.

What do you think is the point of the summit? Is this the best way to resolve the worldwide economic crisis? What is the most important thing governments can do? How have you been personally affected by the economic crisis?

My lifestyle has not been effected by the current crisis yet. I have lived my life to be free of credit cards and loans ,living a simple life by choice. I have everything that is good and real in life in abundance-Has far as poverty in the world and the many crisis that they are meeting to discuss- the solution as I see it is to show the world that War as an economic tool will not be tolerated-second to access the different world regions and determine what their choices for economic stability are then utilise those sources emphasing the that the only true way to peace and prosperity is in the hands of the people working together- an example of this is in Brazil regarding the Amazon rain-forests and the harmony of using the forests abundant plant resources for medicines and health under sustainable environment friendly agriculture.Every region world wide has something to offer in this respect-They people at the G2 summit have been working on the premise that wealth starts at the top and trickles down with out ever considering that wealth must also be at the bottom and meet in the middle-must be Eco-friendly and that if they truly wished prosperity they would stop wars everywhere in mutual agreement and apply sound economic life sustaining long term principles that included all things both from the bottom and the top meeting as prior stated in the middle. we see where the line of thought of trickle down has gotten us in the world it is where we are right now and we can see that it is not working -has not worked and will never work the way they have it- so thinking outside the box is now critical for our planetary species survival and our health.Capitalism and communism has been replaced with global Commercialism and that ism nor the other ism's have worked well for all -never have never will. So a blending of the ism's must occur or we will never have what they are seeking globally which is the ending of global poverty, clean Earth-No more wars of aggression -the end of health crisis-and in general global healing.I have no hope for any answers coming from the same ole same-ole come walking in a different clothes under a different name calling itself different when it's outcome remains the same just shifted around and because it has a new name but still works from the trickle down theory people applaud themselves. It is up to us the people and citizens of the globe to bring about new solutions that work -if we keep depending on them to solve our problems then nothing will ever change.

Here's the comment I left for the BBC:

It's not going to happen, but the G20 could take this opportunity to dismantle the capitalist system which is in it's death-throes, and replace it with democratic socialism. But, this is an opportunity which will not be taken. Instead, the heads of state will find new ways of continuing to prop up the dying capitalist system, keeping it on life support, to the detriment of the tens of millions who NEED a democratic socialist system.

Thank you kindly, David!

Protesting is all well and good - but do these protestors have to vandalize and destroy other people's property during their protests? Nothing has ever been achieved through hooliganism. (Saw this on the BBC news last night) What is needed, are CLEAR heads and co-operation between the nations to achieve the desired goals.

In my opinion, The United States was born from capitalistic thinkers. Which is why the native Indians were slaughtered to gain more land. Nothing has changed from the beginning, but change is coming to the people and the nations. Tim is right, this offers another opportunity, but I am not sure if it will help to stop the system of capitalism.

Again, in my opinion, there has to be NO Wall Street, NO Federal Reserve, and NO War for the United States to let go of capitalism. Although, socialism isn't something I run to, neither...heh. I pick humanism. much love and peace...namaste

Unless we communicate with one another, nothing will be solved. We must put some kind of regulations back on the table for the greedy people who have taken advantage of their positions. Then tax payers, who can ill afford it, have to bail them out. It is shameful.Deregulation is what has caused this economic downturn and to dole out money to companies like AIG makes no sense. I always thought bonuses were given to people for a job well done. Doesn't seem to me that any of these places that need to be bailed out by taxpayers have done a job worth a large salary far less a bonus.

Communication seems to be the last thing on the minds of those protestors. I just watched the news and those hooligans (for want of a better description) were smashing store windows and carting away computers and the like. Most of them were hiding their faces behind scarves and balaclavas. These store owners are struggling with this economic mess just like everyone else, yet they are having their properties vandalized and are being robbed. The leaders of the world are trying to sort out the mess - so give them a chance and get those vandals/robbers off the streets. They are not helping anything.
