"The health department came and checked us out and said that since we had a dumpster everything was fine with our kitchen. It was great because the donated dumpster, which is emptied every week, arrived at the same time as the health department people.

Chaz...America has been splitting for many, many years. Like most governments, we have hidden the poor from other nations. In the 1950's, I grew up like this on the streets of Los Angeles. There were numerous poor hiding under bridges, along rivers and streets, staying away from public as much as possible, yet co-existing as if in a parallel universe. People have a tendency to turn away from the poor in disgust, not realizing they may be one or two paychecks away from this fate. Those numbers are now about to explode as the middle class has lost jobs, homes and are threatened with no health care. It's no longer easy to hide the poor and the Obama Administration doesn't want it hidden as have previous administrations.
