Afghans Want Peace Not More War - "Most Afghans Don't Want a Surge, They Want a Negotiated Peace".

"They haven't come here for Afghans or to take their hand and give them peace," Amirollah, 45, said of the Americans...Yet, despite Afghan wishes, the surge is on, as 4,000 US Marines have demonstrated with Operation Khanjar. Eternal war is OK with you?

They US can't ignore these facts... and I think it is time for them to rethinkg their policies for being in Afganistan... it is not enhancing security for the word... it is creating a mine field of problems

We need to work to rebuild, to educate, to assist in agriculture, and to support the efforts of the Afghans. We have to do something better than this!

OH yes- Get out indeed! So simple an answer! Yes, by all means get out- and then:
1- AlQueda / radical Islamists take over- murder and maim any one that supported us-
2- That would make meaningless all our troop deaths and gravely wounded / paralized fighting the extrimists that hit us on 9/11`-
3- Obama / Demopcrat Party would take the loss in a war we could win- Can't pin it on Bush any more- This is Obama's war-
4- Afgan women beaten, killed and enslaved again by their radical Islamic male masters- No school, no out side work and no more freedom-
5- Enemy hand strengthened- Others will never trust us again!
What we need is spine and backbone to win like our WWII vets did- There is no substitute for victory- Perhaps then they will leave us in peace knowing the price they will pay won't be worth it!

Doesn't sound like an especially unreasonable request to me. We attacked Afghanistan to eliminate Al Queda, but all we did was relocate them to Pakistan, so now we have to attack a "friendly" country on a regular basis. As far as a radical Islamist takeover with lots of murder and mayhem, just ask George Bush Sr about enlisting the help of friendly Iraquis then hanging them out to dry during the 1st Gulf War. We can't tell the Aghanis how to live any more than we can tell the Iraquis or Iranians or Canadians. We can't even agree on how WE should live. We need spine and backbone, alright, but the spine and backbone to put our own house in order before we try to make over the rest of the world in our image. If we have to blow something up, how about North Dakota; they haven't been invaded lately.

The war our people are currently in is the same war begun by cowboy Bush. Too many people still believe that we went to war against Iraq because of 9/11, even after it was plainly stated as being untrue. We attacked Iraq because Saddam was going to sell his oil for Euros, instead of dollars.
Joseph, AlQueda was a creation of the United States CIA, in order to fight the Russians. So, it seems highly unlikely that they'll attack us, we're still funding them. To end war would not make all the deaths so far, meaningless, it would mean they fought for peace - what better to die for? Also, it would mean we will not sacrifice thousands more of our people, and hundreds of thousands of the Afghani's. The U.S. does not have the right to go into a foreign land and enforce OUR way of thinking, and religion on another people. No one has ever won in that region, against the afghani's. Why do you think we would? You only want to see more U.S. citizens dead, obviously!
To stop war is simple. Mind your own business, and take care of your own. Let other religions around the world follow their own beliefs. Let other forms of government be. And, while we're at it, the U.S. is NOT a democracy.

If you cannot do it for the Afghan children growing up in fear of their lives do it for the sake of all the American children growing up as war orphans and the mothers who brought up the soldiers sent to war never to return. The only way to really live free from the fear of terrorism is to kepp out of other nation's conflicts.

Mr. Joseph B., al Qaeda would most assuredly care to murder a few Americans but not for your inane, illogical and nonsensical ? reasoning?. I presume it may have a tad to do with buying Sunni from Shi'a and Shi'a from Sunni at $100 per human being to the USAns, to be thrown into Abu Ghraib and Guantanamo Bay. Where we proceeded to violate the Eighth Amendment, the UN Charter Geneva Conventions CAT3 Torture Article, whereby the previous demonic administration ignored our three tiered system of government by Excutive Over Reach the likes unknown in modern history run amok, Diplomacy what? and Congress Whom?. We tortured and illegally imprisoned child soldiers, the Uygers, denied habeas, refused translators and counsel according to the Nuremberg Principles[ oops, we co-wrote that there one, Joey]called them 'Detainees', sorry they are POW's, how proud you must be to be able to state, "I'm a USAn and we TORTURE!", puffed out chest and such. Taliban are rendered useless more each day, Taliban are NOT al Qaeda, nor Pashtuns. The conflict in Afgan-Paki-Stan is Sectarian as well as a battle for the huge bucks over the Poppy. Are you so ignorant as to cultures beliefs or lack thereof that you believe all Afhanistani's are uneducated, backwater, Shar'ia [ or should I say the USA and their transliteration of the aforementioned]are one like minded group of persons? This country consists of Tribes, many religions, impoverished, well to do, uneducated, higher education degreed professional women, women that think, work, opine, and want only to have their Nation back. Are you surprised by this? It's not necessary to use Charlie Google, open the front doors of your Public Library and once you cross the portal the world and all of it's wondrous differences is lain at your feet Joseph.
It is time to come home. Time to say NO. Time to Break Silence.
Peace Joseph.

we would not be there in the first place if al-queda didnt mount attacks(9/11) from bases in afghanastan(tora-bora)...so all blood is on their hands ...we also have no choice but to win this war because if we leave to soon it is a fact al-queda/taliban will regroup and begin mounting attacks on mainland U.S as soon as they can....nobody wants to be there but letting al-queda run free and recruit and mount attacks is much worse than bringing the fight to them....freedom isnt free..

How stupid can you be Joe, my profileless, friendless troll of no repute or credibility?...Let's just kill 'em all and let God sort them out?...People like you are directly responsible for the deaths of men, women and children, not to mention your own 'boy troops' and without thought or compassion the rot will continue...

Back off my 'friend' and attempt to put yourself in the place of a now alone 7 year old girl, family and friends murdered by the US war machine?...And yet you still condone war for no reason all?...'Defense' of the USA is no defense for mass murder on a grand scale!

Excellent comment Joseph. These Neville Chamberlain lib types usually want to cut and run. NOW members ask a Afghani woman , who's just began to vote, work independently and not be executed in soccer stadiums, if they want the kindly, open minded Talaban back! Girls attending public schools with much lessened fear. You peoples naivety is astounding. Get real.

Obviously, a LOT of people would stand to lose a LOT of money if the US pulled out of Afghanistan, as is evidenced by how many fake-account trolls have posted their inanities on this thread in support of a war that the actual citizens of the country it takes place in dont want.

negotiate with the Taliban?.....that would be the foreigners ( Arabs, Pakistanis) who took the country over from the inside and spent several wonderful years beheading women and teachers and destroying schools.......you do not negotiate with terrorists.....to them that is weakness....the only law they understand is strength.....terrorists laugh at pacifism as it makes the job much easier....roll down your shirt collar and bare your neck to them if you dare.

Many people do not trust Americans now:e.g. Iraq used to be an American ally, then the USA (and others) went to war with it; The Taliban used to be an American ally, now the USA (and others) are at war with it.

The current Afghan government seems corrupt, sexist, and inefficient. Why should outsiders, however well intentioned, support it?

WE WIll have to put the pressure on the New Admin soon, WE have to put more energy into creating renewables NOW, so this type of conflict is not recurring globally. CREATE< CREATE< CREATE.....

The people will not tolerate being over there much longer, I would say summer or sooner and WE should and will be out of therer or not...... Things have to go a certain way. Divine order does not have to make sense to us , it just is......and has to be respected, etc.....

"you do not negotiate with terrorists"...Don't you Wild Cat?...What do you do? Eternal war (which I assume you are proposing) is not the answer to anything...To not negotiate is to kill and be killed forever!...One day, people with your incredibly un-intelligent point of view will morph into real people?

I feel that this was and is still unnecessary. The Russian's tried and failed to beat these people, and anyway I feel that negotiations is the way to go.Killing and war never, ever solved anything.

Action Alert from the Peace Team which I received today via The Pen:

Occupying Afghanistan Does Nothing But Make America LESS Safe

Didn't we already have a so-called troop "surge" in Afghanistan? Well
it obviously didn't work. Because now General Stanley McChrystal,
whose last appointment was head of Dick Cheney's secret international
assassination ring, is back pressuring President Obama to double down
again on this strategically insane bet. The policy was doomed from
the beginning, as we all knew, has done nothing but exacerbate hatred
of America, and the more troops we send the more terrorists there
will be who want nothing but revenge for the military occupation of
their own country.

And for what? To prop up the patently fraudulent Karzai regime, that
just stole an election with massive wholesale vote rigging. If our
goal was to bring American style democracy to a remote and backward
conglomeration of tribal warlords, considering our own electronically
rigged elections, perhaps that is exactly what we have done. We are
on the wrong side. We need to get out and cut our losses, NOW. HR2404
calls for an exit strategy. HR3699 prohibits funding for increasing
our military force in Afghanistan.

http://www.peaceteam.net/action/pnum1007.php - Out Of Afghanistan Action Page

The only good news is that there is a serious debate going on inside
the Obama administration about this. It was a huge appointment
mistake to put General McChrystal in charge in the first place. And
following more of his bad counsel will lead only to greater disaster.
Obama approved more troops for Afghanistan in February. They were
sent, and now we learn the situation has only deteriorated. And the
reason is that we can never, ever subjugate with military force such
a mountainous and fiercely tribal country, not with a million troops,
not in a million years.

Those who ruled America by fear for eight years have their doomsayers
out there in full force, braying that leaving Afghanistan will
empower the terrorists. For those with a memory, those of the same
ilk in a previous generation shouted that leaving Vietnam, and not
doubling our troop numbers there again and again, would cause other
countries to fall to the commies like dominos. How utterly
preposterous it all sounds now.

If fact, it is our PRESENCE in Afghanistan that empowers those who
hate America, by creating more people who hate America, every time we
bomb a wedding party, in a attempt to kill everyone even SUSPECTED of
being a terrorists. Why would Al Qaeda, if they are still the real
enemy at all, even WANT to return to such a backward place with such
poor communications with the outside world, when operationally they
are probably better off wherever they are now? It's just more
senseless firepower thrown at absolutely the wrong target.

And while we are at it, in case you had not noticed, there is
absolutely no intention of us EVER leaving Iraq either. All they have
done is shuffle some troops around while commanders on the ground
talk about us being there for decades to come. While at the same time
you have right wing chuckleheads like Bill Kristol, Mr. Throwing
Flowers and Candy himself, on Fox peddling the recycled hogwash that
the people of Iran would welcome a military attack by us. As if we
need yet a third sinkhole in the Middle East to deal with.

Why, even Henry Kissinger poked his head out of whatever undisclosed
bunker location he's been hiding in, to avoid his own international
arrest, to argue that we should give Obama's "new" appointments more
rope to hang us with. Except they are all just the same OLD people
from the Cheney regime, and they should have all been cleaned out day
one, instead of leading us further down the wrong road. More troops
is just the start Kissinger says. Haven't we heard enough from the
genius architect of the original Vietnam debacle, and his retread of
a Vietnamization theory?

Out Of Afghanistan Action Page:
http://www.peaceteam.net/action/pnum1007.php

Please speak out now. If President Obama did NOT have doubts about
all this he could not be as much smarter than George Bush as we all
give him credit for. But Congress is the decider on whether to go to
war and whether to bring the troops home. And bring the troops home
they must, and that's what they need to hear from us now.

And here is the one click Facebook page for this action.

Damn straight Wild Cat. What the super bleeding heart libs like d Buch. don't fathom is the true believer zealots [aka Al quaeda, Taliban et al] only use the Koran tenets of convert by the sword. They don't quietly come into a country w/ poor feeding missionary workers, like many other religions. David if they choose , in Australia they would love to kill you and any other men, women and children. Because you are infidels.
