Didn't we already have a so-called troop "surge" in Afghanistan? Well it obviously didn't work.

Because now GENERAL STANLEY McCHRYSTAL, whose last appointment was HEAD OF DICK CHENEY'S SECRET INTERNATIONAL ASSASSINATION RING, is back pressuring President Obama to double down again on this strategically insane bet...

The policy was doomed from the beginning, as we all knew, has done nothing but exacerbate hatred of America, and the more troops we send the more terrorists there will be who want nothing but revenge for the military occupation of their own country.

And for what? To prop up the patently fraudulent Karzai regime, that just stole an election with massive wholesale vote rigging. If our goal was to bring American style democracy to a remote and backward conglomeration of tribal warlords, considering our own electronically rigged elections, perhaps that is exactly what we have done....

We are on the wrong side. We need to get out and cut our losses, NOW. HR2404 calls for an exit strategy. HR3699 prohibits funding for increasing our military force in Afghanistan...

The one click form below (visit site) will send your personal message to all your government representatives selected below, with the subject "Get Us Out Of Afghanistan, Pass HR2404 and HR3699." At the same time you can send your personal comments only as a letter to the editor of your nearest local daily newspaper if you like.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

OK folks, this war is NOT working for us or for them so please sign the petition and stop the needless slaughter?

Occupying Afghanistan Does Nothing But Make America LESS Safe

The only good news is that there is a serious debate going on inside
the Obama administration about this. It was a huge appointment
mistake to put General McChrystal in charge in the first place. And
following more of his bad counsel will lead only to greater disaster...

Obama approved more troops for Afghanistan in February. They were
sent, and now we learn the situation has only deteriorated. And the
reason is that we can never, ever subjugate with military force such
a mountainous and fiercely tribal country, not with a million troops,
not in a million years.

Those who ruled America by fear for eight years have their doomsayers
out there in full force, braying that leaving Afghanistan will
empower the terrorists. For those with a memory, those of the same
ilk in a previous generation shouted that leaving Vietnam, and not
doubling our troop numbers there again and again, would cause other
countries to fall to the commies like dominos. How utterly
preposterous it all sounds now...

If fact, it is our PRESENCE in Afghanistan that empowers those who
hate America, but creating more people who hate America, every time
we bomb a wedding party, in a attempt to kill everyone even SUSPECTED
of being a terrorists. Why would Al Qaeda, if they are still the real
enemy at all, even WANT to return to such a backward place with such
poor communications with the outside world, when operationally they
are probably better off wherever they are now? It's just more
senseless firepower thrown at absolutely the wrong target.

And while we are at it, in case you had not noticed, there is
absolutely no intention of us EVER leaving Iraq either. All they have
done is shuffle some troops around while commanders on the ground
talk about us being there for decades to come. While at the same time
you have right wing chuckleheads like Bill Kristol, Mr. Throwing
Flowers and Candy himself, on Fox peddling the recycled hogwash that
the people of Iran would welcome a military attack by us. As if we
need yet a third sinkhole in the Middle East to deal with...

Why, even Henry Kissinger poked his head out of whatever undisclosed
bunker location he's been hiding in, to avoid his own international
arrest, to argue that we should give Obama's "new" appointments more
rope to hang us with. Except they are all just the same OLD people
from the Cheney regime, and they should have all been cleaned out day
one, instead of leading us further down the wrong road. More troops
is just the start Kissinger says. Haven't we heard enough from the
genius architect of the original Vietnam debacle, and his retread of
a Vietnamization theory?...

Please speak out now. If President Obama did NOT have doubts about
all this he could not be as much smarter than George Bush as we all
give him credit for. But Congress is the decider on whether to go to
war and whether to bring the troops home. And bring the troops home
they must, and that's what they need to hear from us now.

And here is the one click Facebook page for this action.

Out Of Afghanistan Facebook Action:
http://apps.facebook.com/fb_voices/action.php?qnum=pnum1007

And the Twitter reply to send, to send this message to all your
members of Congress that way, is

@cxs #p1007

Please take action NOW, so we can win all victories that are supposed
to be ours, AND PLEASE FORWARD THIS ALERT AS WIDELY AS POSSIBLE... OK? D.

obviously america was not to safe before we ever went there huh(9/11)? letting al-queda regroup and mount fresh attacks from bases in afghanastan will make us safer?? i think keeping them on the run and making them focus on american forces in afghanastan is making america safer and i think obama realizes this and will increase troop levels to where it needs to be to be effective....

Still here Joe, my profileless, friendless, faceless troll...You are persistent in your attempts to wrong all rights...I'll give you points for persistence but nothing else...

Why not start your own war in your own backyard, sit back and smile at your own children being murdered and leave us alone?...

The average person signing this petition is concerned enough to not want their own children 'sacrificed' in the hypocritical name of 'defense' and does not need airheads like you breathing the flames of hatred down their necks...Have a nice day!

And for the benefit of Abdessalam, Adam and any other non-US citizen who cares to care enough about signing this petition...

The petition requires a hometown (yours), a state (Any), a 5 digit zip code (00000 works fine)...

I have complained to peaceteam in the past for not opening their petitions to all citizens of the world as US politics now affect all globally, so far to no avail...

As an Australian I have no qualms about signing the petition (albeit 'sideways') as Australia has troops in Afghanistan too...

Quite apart from that, does anyone actually still believe that this war is going to achieve anything other than widespread death and destruction to people on 'both sides'...in 8 years nothing else has been achieved, will anything change in the next 8 years?...

Sign the petition before Afghanistan is nothing but burnt earth?

Joe Jones (2)
Tuesday October 6, 2009, 7:17 pm
al-queda has been unable to put together any major attack on U.S mainland so just that alone shows they are busy with the american forces so yes it has achieved something...and it must be easy sitting in australia telling the U.S to get out of afghanastan and stop hunting al-queda/taliban when australia would not be attacked but the U.S is the main target of al-queda and they would surely regroup and begin an offensive...maybe you should move to new york city after we leave afghanastan and tell me how safe you feel when al-queda/taliban have control over afghanastan(again) and are planning new attacks??..and afghanastan is not burnt earth but it has many new schools, hospitals roads etc ..and women actually have freedoms they could only dream of under the taliban but who cares about that right david??...and by the way i am not friendless anymore

I said it before and I will here say it again. After the deaths of over 4000 of our soldiers and tens of thousands of Iraqis and the wasting of nearly a trillion dollars of our hard-earned money what do we have to show for Bush's invasion of Iraq? Absolutely nothing, absolutely nothing. The invasion of Iraq has been well established to have had nothing to do with terrorism. There were never any terrorists in Iraq. Our military games in either Iraq or Afghanistan have nothing to do with terrorism or the defeat of terrorists. Whether we continue them or get out will make us no more secure nor will it make us more at risk to terrorism. The wingnuts keep singing that same silly song. Our actions have simply led to a spread of terrorist cells all over the Middle East.

Let us assume that we can stabilize Afghanistan and "defeat" the insurgents with the modified World War II tactics the military is now using. That is really all that it is in Afghanistan. What next? Do we leave a supposedly stable country and move our troops out? During all this stabilizing of Afghanistan, the insurgents will simply have moved to Pakistan or some other country then move right back into Afghanistan after we leave. Or does the military recommend that we keep troops there indefinitely or invade Pakistan and every other country in the middle east? Apparently some seem to think that this game of musical chairs is good policy. Someone should inform these people that this is not a sports contest to gain some trophy or a championship, because that is all that we have gotten out of this Bush debacle so far. Do it all over again? Don't be ridiculous. Get out of your cheer leader gear and get real. It makes absolutely no sense to continue in Afghanistan. The time to get out is now not years from now and after the loss of untold number of our troops and massive waste of taxpayer dollars. It is amazing that our leaders are so blind on this subject. You are not going to win in Afghanistan.

Maybe that is not all that it is about. But, let's us look at another factor that just might affect the military thinking on both Iraq and Afghanistan. It should be recognized that a military officer will never looks for advancement in his career with his feet under a desk. Only military action will serve for advancement. How often do you see the military favor shutting down military action on any occasion, regardless of the situation? It is always more troops and we will see victory, more deaths, more glory.....for those who live through it, and promotions for the military.
