Afghanistan, service men and women are already facing repeated deployments, oftentimes while having already been diagnosed with medical and mental conditions that should render them unfit for deployment, even if they have been diagnosed with severe PTSD.

"As the Obama administration debates whether to send tens of thousands of extra troops to Afghanistan, an already overstretched military is increasingly struggling to meet its deployment numbers. Surprisingly, one place it seems to be targeting is military personnel who go absent without leave (AWOL) and then are caught or turn themselves in.

Hidden behind the gates of military bases across the U.S., troops facing AWOL and desertion charges regularly find themselves in the hands of a military that metes out informal, open-ended punishments by forcing them to wait months -- sometimes more than a year -- to face military justice. In the meantime, some of these soldiers are offered a free pass out of this legal limbo as long as they agree to deploy to Afghanistan or Iraq -- even if they have been diagnosed with severe post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)".

Sherbet... David this is a disaster waiting to happen.. the cycle will be repeated again and again.. these people do not need this extra stress in their lives and perhaps they could make room for them in an office at home in the military...

It's so sick. All for hegemony. Perhaps the Venus Project or some of the info in the Zeitgeist Addendum (Zeitgeist II) will open our eyes to the inherent anti-humanity of leading lives built around monetary systems. For if there were no profit in war, it would not be waged.

If the leaders and representatives had to face the fighting themselves, surely they would see the uselessness and tragedy of it all? Or maybe they are truly crazy.

Iran kills more child prisoners than Israel and USA. Not even bringing Islamic Extremists into the count.

Therefore, Kim, it is okay to send people to war who are sick? There's a lot of compassion in that stance...Not

War is a loss however you want to look at it. Instead of being so interested in the oil and control over everything and everybody in the wrong way they should start thinking about melting cars and creating greener ways of energies and everybody will have work and eat, meanwhile we still are a plague that keeps being ignorant and sadist, the details of who kills who we more or less know, enough putting up with this sort of news, the world is everybody's to be in harmony. Treaties, lies, treasons, death, name it, for the few to enjoy, sick how we let this happen.

"No one would be foolish enough to choose war over peace - in peace sons bury their fathers, but in war fathers bury their sons."

"A great war leaves the country with three armies; an army of cripples, an army of mourners, and an army of thieves."

My fine son, father of 4, is caught up in this drama...he went AWOL in April...plans to turn himself in once he has money for a lawyer...

Thanks for that great German proverb. Croesus was wrong wasn't he? Perhaps we should tell Mr Obama.

Why don't we just give Peace a chance.

This is so wrong on so many levels.
