Florida woman, who is a victim of sexual abuse, claims that rape was called a "pre-existing condition" by several health insurance companies, which would have disqualified her for care.

how perverse the health insurance industry has become, just the thought that the well-being of a woman might come before profits....they are not having it....it's disgusting

One from the article is Blue Cross Blue Shield, but to read it all there is many, it seems common practice -a second rape in your life time to blue shield is pre existing(?) It would have been nice if huffington finger pointed every single one -they need not be protected but investigated and opened up by law and the press -i doubt there would be any left standing. unless the hospital also curves their thirst for $$$$ the insurance companies can not survive being honest. $12-$20 for a pain pill because it was delivered bed side in a paper cup -when the whole day stay was $5,000 -$10,000 to begin with -it ought to be gold with a rose on the side.

In other words, "How to kick a woman when she's down". Selective health care coverage in the US is great for Insurance Companies. For the people with (and I use the term loosely) "preexisting conditions", health care for US citizens is no better than what you'd expect to find in "third-world" nations.

Nothing said can do more to make evident the need for reform in the health care system, for a single payer system. In the face of all these actions by the insurance companies it is amazing that there can be any people who will oppose a public option, except, of course, the insurance company executives and their shills. Even if a person has employer paid health insurance there is considerable doubt whether it is real or just a fantasy or how much longer it will still exist as employer paid. Any one who opposes reform in the health case system because he/she is afraid that any change will be bad for him/her had better look behind himself/herself. In a bit of Yogi, don't look behind you, it may be gaining on you.

I hope the CEOs and Executives of any insurance company that would turn a woman down for treatment for rape find out themselves that Karma is one mean bitch when they have their "why now, why me" moment. When people are evil like they are, and they meet up with THE BITCH known as karma, I love to rub their misery in deeper. I have, and I will. It's fun to watch the mean scream for mercy, and being in control whether they get any or not. Of course, they will not get any from me, only more misery, physical and psychological.

Someone needs to remind me what it is that health insurance companies do that can't be done without them. Certainly we know the many horrible things that these companies do daily, it is either done to each of us or some one we know, but this should be the kind of proof that glaringly shines the light on just how much they do not offer a service, rather they run a business for profit that gives nothing in return for the money paid. First people are penalized for getting sick and now they are doubly penalized for being raped. How much longer will people tolerate being treated in this manner?

Someone needs to tell these CEOs and executives that their greed is a pre-existing condition and simply shoot them dead. That needs to take place all around this country until CEOs and executives of health insurance companies all get so stressed out they all drop dead. That is the only way to replace this system. All the politicians in Washington who intend to obstruct any health insurance reform will keep obstructing until we get rid of their accessories to the CRIME, then get all those obstructing health insurance reform OUT OF OFFICE, brand their forehead with a mark to show that they are to be social pariahs, CONFISCATE their assets, throw them out on the streets to fend for themselves and die from the elements.

Someone needs to tell these CEOs and executives that their greed is a pre-existing condition and simply shoot them dead. That needs to take place all around this country until CEOs and executives of health insurance companies all get so stressed out because of fear for their lives, they all drop dead on the count of ten. Then we go after the conservative Republicans and Blue Dog Democrats who stand in the way of any reform, and make their lives horrible. Come on people, we outnumber them. We can do it. It's the only way to play the game. You gotta get MEAN!
