PETITION - Stop the Monsanto Frankenseed Factory

World  (tags: Frankenfood, PETITION )

Monsanto is extending its global power with a massive new frankenseed factory in Argentina. Sofía Gatica and others have spoken out, and she has received death threats and a brutal beating. The threat is urgent -- let's stand with them and stop the plant.

To President Cristina Kirchner, the Mayor of Malvinas and Córdoba authorities :

As concerned global citizens, we urge you to immediately stop Monsanto’s plans to build a massive GM seed laboratory in Córdoba, and consult with the local community. The plant and the pesticides that will be used in it could pose serious health risks to local people and it undermines people’s right to decide what food is produced and consumed in their communities. The government must ensure that GM policy in Argentina reflects the wishes of its citizens.

The sad thing is that if we allow 90% of all food crops to be crumpled down into only one or two seed types, it will only take one major burp of Mother Nature to destroy the entire food production and for millions, no billions! to starve. Sooooo short-sighted.

Precisely Kamia... Once watched a doco on an African farm. The seed planted was a culmination of seven varieties. Some could survive floods, some could survive drought. I have no idea, but Monsanto seed cannot survive anything after the money runs dry?

What? You don't want only one variety of apple that is mushy and taste like newspaper but never turns brown? You don't want your organs rotted from the inside out? You don't want superbugs? You don't want to owe your soul to the company Monsanto? Me either so I signed.
