they are supposed to be nutritious. If your vegan you probably already eat some and just don't know it.

I always thought of cochineal as a textile dye, as in Indian rugs and blankets (and I think in some "Persian" rugs too? not so sure about that.) I suppose that only proves I watch Antiques Roadshow. But I am aware you can't trust Dannon, or Yoplait, or Activia, or any big company to be telling the truth, ever.
