Greg is my childhood friend. He has been an addict since the age if 9 yrs old, given to him by his mother, on a daily basis. Signed out if school in the 7th grade, and thrown out of the house, left to fend for himself with his addiction. He got into trouble in his late teens all due to his addiction. He robbed $23.00 in 1996 in a self induced intoxicated blackout. He fell under the statue of violent crime, even though no one was physically injured. He has served 17+ yrs, of a Life sentence. This punishment does NOT fit the crime! Please go to the following

And please read, sign, and forward to all you know on this planet, and repost to FZb, Twittrr, or anywhere else you feel will get attention. We are in need of 25,000 signatures. Greg has since Detoxed, rehabilitated, got his GED, Got his Associates degree in law, and is a paralegal, and has many certificates for addictions w/perfect attendance, and numerous other self help classes. Follow the URL and his page for Greg's FB page to see many of his certificates. Not all criminals are created equal, nor does the punishment fit the crime. Please support Greg, and tell NJ, Addiction needs reform, NOT prison!

I already signed, sorry. 3 strike laws really do make me uncomfortable. sentencing should always look at rehab, community service and APPROPRIATE jail sentences. Jailing people just because someone's offended someone broke the law isn't right.

This law in the USA is ridiculous the sentances people get for non violent crimes This should not be happening Murderers in Europe do not get anywhere near this sentance unless its a premeditated murder multiple murders or of a child
There is no justification for incarcerating someone for this amount of time for non violent crimes and the cost for keeping these non violent people in for these crimes could be better used to help all the homeless and hungry there This is a waste of public money there too
Its time that the oudated 3 strikes system was stopped and also time that punishments fitted the crime Addiction problems are not solved by 35 yr prison sentances but by rehabilitation tolerance and compassion Its time Gregory Bartholomew was released and have some time with his family
It is the justice system that is now committing the crime

I signed, and also feel the three strikes system has to be stopped !! In a case such as Greg's with addiction being the cause, he should no way be serving this kind of time. This is not "justice" ! Also, I have worked in the legal field, as a paralegal and seen cases where the person got far less time. I have shared this and am hoping for some justice for Greg.

In the comments box I wrote Please release Gregory Bartholomew. He has already served 15 years in a maximum security prison. During the time he has served he has been rehabilitated and educated. Gregory is also a very active member of the Care2 community where he shows himself to be extremely caring, compassionate and supportive to the people and the causes. Please grant him his freedom. Thank you

TY all. Wait until Teresa sees this. I am just overwhelmed by everyone's support. Tonight is the first time, that I feel almost like a person of that on the outside. Interacting will all you great people has helped me to reach this point, where a couple days ago, I never thought I would feel like a human being again. This feeling is so amazing. Feels like I have been given a second wind! Hugs to you all!

Addicted to drugs by age 9 by his mother? That really screws a kid up. A kid does not have the cognitive abilities at that age to step back from an abusive parent, especially a parent that is poisoning her own child. This abuse sets the stage for other events. A 3 strikes law seems inappropriate under these circumstances. Then take into consideration the rehab and education that has been done over the past 17 years. The courts need to take all this into consideration and commute the sentence to time served. I can think of some politicians that have done far more but remain free.
