Although we are always careful as to how we spend our dollars, this program has never been focused solely on the costs. For example, we have never euthanized an animal in the program solely because the vetting costs were going to be high...

Please help even a little bit, friends...

Project Jessie is a great effort co-ordinated through the Animal Alliance of Canada, that rescues dogs and cats from Canadian pounds and animal control services where they would otherwise end up euthanized or in laboratory research. I personally support them as a regular donor.

If you read the story you'll find I am posting this solely in an effort to encourage those of you who can, to please help them with this particularly sad emotional and financial burden.

I have not openly appealed for financial help on behalf of any org before this but I know these people are diligent with their efforts and their funds and this appeal is one of genuine need.

Links to donations (online or by mail) are in the body of this particularly sad story of gallant effort that just wasn't quite enough...

Jeffrey thanks for sharing this particular news item with us. I really feel so sad for Cameo. How could any one do such a thing to the poor dog. In this case we must thank the organizers of Project Jessie. They are real angels in disguise I say! Taking care of the poor animals in these difficult time is no joke. We hope and pray that they will receive sufficient funds to meet the cost of the animals' medication fee. Noted with a heavy heart.

that is so sad after all the expense that she still died. I know how it feels, I have had animals to the vet to have them die from some unexpected cause. It does not stop you from wanting to continue to help other animals, but, it does put a crunch on your fiances to be able to continue to help others in need. I will forward and try to do what I can to help.

First- thank you so much Julie for sending this to me. Secondly- Project Jessie is in my old neighborhood in Toronto. I am going to contact them and offer to do a Fundraiser for them with my skin care business. I am having a very bad day - Mickey has been gone 3 months today. Doing this will make me feel much better about the fact that I can at least help other animals.

I am so sad to hear of the passing of Cameo. This is just heart breaking! I am definitly going to do my part and send a donation to Jessie's Project. I have to tell you my story in short. A while back I saddly and unexpectedly lost my Precious Furbaby. I thought my heart would never heal from the loss. Anyway we are from the US and with time we adopted a wonderful dog from Ann and Pete...Jessie's Project in Canada. I personally have to tell you that they are two of the most amazing people I have ever met in my life. Their love of these dogs that they rescue and find homes are endless work that they do and it's done with so much Love. I am asking every person that reads this from my heart to yours...to please donate to Jessie's Project to help them. Also if you are looking to adopt a dog this is great place to adopt from. On a personal note I would like to "Thank" Ann and Pete for helping my heart heal and adopting to us the most wonderful and precious dog that we love so much. It's also ironic that I came across this story today on the date of my loss and the people who helped me to heal. I Love you Ann and Pete and my Liitle Rescue Boy also says Thank You to the both of you for finding me a wonderful and loving home and Mommy and Daddy and Furbrother. Please open your hearts everyone to make a donation in honor of your present and past furbabies to Jessie's Project. I'm sure the lives that will be saved will be very Thankful to you!

I have just finished an email to Project Jessie - and told them that I would love to do a fundraiser for them. I am asked to do this with my business quite a bit - but only will do it for animal groups and shelters.

Thank everyone, for your kind thoughts, donations, and the fund raiser offer, De L., and for forwarding this story to your friends. And thank you, DarLin, for sharing your personal experience with the members here.

I sent word of this submission to Shelly, the Project Jessie Director for Animal Alliance of Canada, and she is very touched by the outpouring of support, and particularly the caring comments. She sends her thanks and says, "Sometimes this work is emotionally draining and you start to feel that you are slogging away and no one notices."
