Please act to stop the Dallas zoo from sending Jenny, the elephant, to a small amusement park in Mexico. There will be NO U.S. Animal Welfare or Anti-Cruelty Laws covering Jenny in Mexico. Several SANCTUARIES will take Jenny! Please X-POST!

Please also write to Dallas press (details on link)also detail of her story and point to make.

Please forward to others.

This is what I wrote

I am writing to alert the community of Dallas that there is international concern regarding the decision to send the elephant ‘Jenny’ to Mexico rather than to a sanctuary. This elephant was taken from her mother at the age of two (elephants stay with their mother for many more years than this) and has years of being confined in a zoo.

Surely it is time to provide her with the benefits of a dedicated elephant sanctuary such as the Elephant Sanctuary or PAWS, both offering large tracts of land and state of the art habitat,

Instead I understand this elephant is to be sent to a Safari Amusement Park with under 5 acres (which mat be subdivided). In addition there will be no U.S. Animal Welfare or Anti-Cruelty Laws covering Jenny in Mexico.

I would ask that a copy of the performance and quality of care standards the Dallas Zoo has put in place for Jenny at the Safari Amusement Park be published. . I ask this as the AZA ‘accreditation’ held by the Safari Amusement Park is a trade group, not a quality accreditation and AZA facilities have been cited for breeches of USDA standards.

I ask that the people of Dallas, who have had the benefit of Jenny’s presence for over 20 years, now act to secure her a safe and humane future at a sancuray rather than an amusement park

I personally support PAWS Ark 2000, I feel that they truly care about the animals and give them room to roam. I am concerned that Jenny will be limited by the space provided for her in Mexico and I would love to see her live a rich full life with room to grow with the other elephants in a special place like Ark 2000.
