Please take a minute to ask University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston department of anesthesiology chair Carin Hagberg, M.D., to replace the use of live pigs in the school's anesthesia workshop with validated human-based training methods.

THE UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS HEALTH CENTER OF HOUSTON IS USING METHODS THAT ARE SADISTIC, CRUEL AND TOTALLY UNNECESSARY. THEE ARE NUMEROUS OPTIONS FOR TESTING AND TEACHING THAT DO NOT INCLUDE THE USE OF LIVE ANIMALS. IT IS SO OBVIOUS THAT THIS IS A METHOD THAT IS INHUMANE AND HORRIFIC. LEAVE THE PIGS, DOGS, CATS, MICE, ETC. ALONE. THEY ARE VICTIMS OF YOUR IGNORANCE TO THE PAIN AND TRAUMA THEY MUST ENDURE.

Science today, being far advanced, can use human-based medical simulators,
I fully understand that the cost will be higher as higher the benefits for students.
But these "poor" animals will surely have a better life

happy to signed thx u Carolina & Toni for sharing

Pigs and humans are remarkably similar anatomically. Oddly enough, given pigs propensity for rooting through graveyards when they have the chance, we are in the paradoxical situation of...sometimes we eat the pork, and sometimes it eats us. Food for thought.

Animal experimentation needs to be strictly regulated and limited to only the most important projects. Much of it can be replaced with computer models. There may be some projects, however, that can't be duplicated in a computer model.

It's hard to believe that when there are other ways already in place, that resesarchers and trainers would still choose to injure and kill living breathing beings.

The use of animals is so outdated and the results are not valid for humans. So why are these "scientists" still using animals?

When you stand before the Supreme Being you cannot say.. But I was told by others to do thus... or virtue was not convenient at the time. This will not suffice. Remember it!

Oddly enough, pigs actually have similar anatomies to humans, such that developing safe procedures to use on humans during surgery is commonly done on pigs first. Many procedures no longer need the use of pigs as they can be practiced on computer models or on life-like anatomical dummies. However, there may be a small percentage of procedures that require practice on a living subject.
