A wildlife park near Doncaster has launched a fundraising campaign to bring 14 lions from a Romanian zoo. Yorkshire Wildlife Park says it needs to raise £150,000 to transfer the lions from the country's Oradea Zoo.

In just a few days, Idaho officials have sold more than 4,000 out of 70,000 wolf-killing permits for sale. There are only 1,000 wolves in Idaho. That's 70 hunters per wolf. Please tell President Obama to stop this senseless slaughter before it begins.

Idaho Fish and Game (IDFG) said statewide more than 2,000 wolf killing permits were sold in the first hour and a half after going on sale Monday. By Tuesday morning, more than 5,100 tags had been sold, with about 2 percent going to out-of-state hunters.

Friends of Animals president Priscilla Feral called for a national boycott of Idaho potatoes to protest Idaho's plan to kill wolves in September. That could affect Idaho growers, who produce about one-third of the potatoes consumed in the United States.

The hearing is scheduled for Aug. 31, the day before Idaho wolf hunting is to start. Attorneys for Earthjustice, the group representing the 13 groups challenging the hunt and the federal government, will get three hours to make their cases in court.
