Great story Barb!! Pam.....he had to strip down so if he got soaked he'd have something dry and warm to put on. Bravo to this super brave man! I think if he had've waited for help the dog would not have made it. He made a quick judgement and I'm so glad it worked out in his favour!!

he went out of his way to save a furry friend, hats off for the mystery man, to me he is a hero for the dog, if someone call for help by the time help would arrive maybe the dog would be dead by then, so the risky hero dog took matters on his own hand putting his life on risk, but thinking of the dog life and well being.

He could have died himself after falling in the icy water. The story doesn't say what happened to the dog, but maybe it was his own dog and they disappeared together?

I agree with others in saying that if the man would have waited for help...the poor furbaby would have died, or froze to death!!! What a selfless act of love to save the dog!!! Thanks, Barb for this. Happy Valentine's Day!! xox

Some may call it a foolish act of bravery, I call it being a humane human. I'm sure many of us here would do the same to save an animal.

Brave? Yes! Foolish? Definitely NOT! NONE of my animals would 'think twice' before they jump in 'the deep end' to help anyone in our household, they won't 'debate the odds' like humans do! Thanks for sharing, BarbCat!!

Thank you BarbCat...I'd do it,, and I am sure any of my "Best Friends" or even another dog would help me out! This is one special guy, but when I see some of the rescue stories on the news here in California -- a dog falls off a cliff, the boy (the owner) climbs down to hold on to his dog also is stuck and could fall to his death - then come the guys that are trained to rescue people, they save the boy and his dog - Lots of heros out there and Thankfully so!
