When a house fire in Temuco, Chile destroyed part of their home, this mother dog did not hesitate to help her 10-day-old puppies. Not only did she rescue them from the burning building, but she carried them all the way to the safety of a nearby fire

Human, animal, it doesn't matter - a mother's instinct to save her babies are innate.

It's sad too, because one of her puppies died from smoke inhilation. But yes, Matilda did what ANY mother would have done. Please read the entire story!

We should all learn from the devotion of animals. I've read similar stories before of cats doing this as well and other dogs.

Surely the people she 'owns' won't give her puppies away ater they're weaned. I'm all for families staying together.

While the mother dog should by all rights go back to the owner when that person recovers, I see no reason why she shouldn't have temporary shelter with the fire department until her owner recovers - along with a visit to the owner at hospital after every bath. The fire department should get a pup or two for a mascot dog. Dogs spend 20 millennia or so with humans and pick up our habits; this was one of the better ones.

The Love of Mother's is unconditional in animals. Some humans should take a lesson from them. Heroic mother & smart as well. RIP Amparo. So sorry you died, but your mother did her best under the circumstance. Thanks Barbara.

What a heroine this mother dog is! Such exemplary love and fidelity shown to her puppies to the point of risking her own life and to have the insight to put them into the fire truck shows that animals are truly intelligent and have incredible powers of intuition! So sorry that one little puppy died but I know he's in heaven now watching over his mother and siblings! Thanks Barb for this truly amazing story.
