Please! This is a MUST READ story! If we can get MORE Chinese Animal Advocates involved in STOPPING this HIENOUS CRIME--even tho eating cats in China is LEGAL!--think how MANY more cats' lives can be saved!!

Wonder if the Chinese ever heard of having their cats spayed or neutered? Hmmmmm.

you have to wonder why they are considered a delicacy when cats are a dime a dozen. plus, if they die in sacks en route to restaurants, somebody is going to get poisoned. even if most chinese don't care about animals, they should care more about their health. all of these loose regulations and unsanitary practices are going to catch up to them.

Thanks for the great news Barb!! The more busts there are like these, the more pressure there is on the government to get off their butts and put their new animal legislation into practise!! There's no use making laws up if they're not enforced!!

TY Barb. I am glad they were rescued. It is hard for me to read about cats being treated this way. China is progressing but there is a long way to go for animal welfare.

Noted Tks. Barb...As a cat lover and owner I'm happy that these precious kitties
were saved..the kitties in the pictures are beautiful, but then all animals are beautiful.
It's the human animal that is getting disgusting everyday with the disrespect of the
creatures of this earth....

Thanks Barb for another great article. Beautiful to see these Furry Friends have been Rescued and Heartbreaking seeing them caged & mistreated at the same time. I just can't comprehend how Anyone could look into the face of Any Animal and chose to mistreat or kill it! How can they not see something in them... that is seen within ourselves... well most have one... It's called a Soul... It's called Compassion.... It's called Humanity!

Let's be clear on this. Different cultures choose to eat different animals. The reason this is so terrible is how the cats were treated - inhumanely. I've met many people that could care less about factory/dairy farming, simply because these animals aren't typically 'pets'. It's either acceptable to eat animals or it isn't. Quote:

Choosing to denounce "ownership" of our fellow beings,
and embrace "guardianship" instead, nurtures a mindset
for protecting human and other animals from harm. As I
see it "ownership" is simply the license to do what one will
to one who is "owned" either with marginalized consequence
or none." - Doll Stanley, Director, IDA's Hope Animal Sanctuary.

Glad that they were rescued. I personally cannot eat in a Chinese restaurant and I go out of my way to make sure I'm not buying Chinese products. Their animal rights issues are truly barbaric as well as their human rights issues. Buy US. products whenever you can.

We are trying to stop live exports and keep transport times for animals to a minimum o 8 hours in the UK.
To see these animals transported for so long with no food or water to a fate worse than death would rightly disgust any decent person.

I can understand their want of meat but not family pets. these meat market chinese are heartless and barbaric and their cruel killing and shipping methods are satanic and savagely heartless. skinning and boiling dogs and cats alive How I wish they would get the same treatment done to their ugly hides~ man can live very well not eating the dead body of a once beautiful and intelligent animal. They are cruel to babies and woman and to Christinas in their country. China is a place where satan rules with his cruelties.

Do people really think that such behaviour is peculiar to the Chinese. There is bear baiting in the Southern US and Pakistan, as reported by my daughter when she returned from holiday. There is the unnecessary shooting of wolves and cougars in the name of sport in North America. Food meat comes from animals who are treated little better than this and few of us actually spend any extra to get meat from a humane source. We're all hypocrites, they say when you point a finger there are 3 pointing back at you.

during Chinese famines people ate humans. They are not starving now, why eat cats? Giving some dish a fancy name like Dragon fights Snake, or (closer to home) "veal" "foie de gras" doesn't hide what it is...a dish that had a violent, ugly secret...torture of animals.

The Chinese are not only targeting cats but dogs as well, the Chinese are sick animals. Do not forget the Rhino's, Elephants, Pythons, Turtles and they also eat cockroaches, rats and mice. I lived in Singapore for 5 years, I have seen it all. Just to think about it might make me throw up.

This is beyond belief,i love my cat soooo much he is my baby, and is treated like one of us,how could they put these sweet beautiful little ones through this,is beyond my comprehension????? China needs to be held acountable for the way it treats its animals, after all this is the 21st century, just because they may be a rich and powerful country does not give them the right to treat innocent animals in such horrific ways. This makes me sick to my stomach and i just want to rescue every single one of these cats.Poor poor innocent babies.

I think of China as being like my own country when it was in its Industrial Revolution. Workers were heavily exploited, pollution poisoned the water and air, and cruelty to animals was a fact of life.

As workers finally got more rights, pollution was tackled and people become better fed and educated, they then became more aware that they had the power to influence their country. Animal welfare developed and laws were introduced. These laws are not always well enforced unfortunately but the worst horrors of the past are no longer a part of everyday life. China can do this too. There are many kind, compassionate people in China who are upset by what happens in their country and they need all the support they can get to help improve attitudes to animals.

That photo is sickening to say the least and yet any animal whatever it is, which is subjected to this type of cruelty is beyond eat them, omg.......... when animals are scared witless their muscles freeze know that when youre freezing cold or scared. Think about it and how tough it would be to eat. Puk............its all disgusting. They have no clue, sadly and or no ethics.
