14 Year Old Brother And Sister Cats Get Adopted Together

Two 14 year old cats were left behind and couldn't find a home. They were often overlooked at the shelter because of their age. "No one wanted them because they are older, but I think they are pretty cool," said their new human via reddit.

so many times pairs of cats are dumped at the shelter. it is heartbreaking when the more social of the pair is chosen and thier BFFF gets left behind. sometimes they spend weeks looking for their buddy

Thanks Barb.. Noted. This article is very important as it shows what joy a person can have when they adopt two related cats and also it shows the benefit of having older cats as they sleep more and are often more contented. Two of my foster cats are very old, but almost my faourite cats ever ! They are totally irresistable... I have to almost hug them to death every time I go past them! I adopted another older cat that had been in a shelter for yonks as she was an old mother cat... Her three kittens had been adopted, but the last one as a very shy one and the runt of he litter and nooone had taken it. I WAS going to just take the kitten, but when I saw the mother purring and snuggling up with her arms round her little one, I just HAD to take them both.!.. I always try my best to keep relatives together. I have one mother with her two now grown up kittens and another two sisters. It make take forever...( or never,) to get them homes, as most people don't want to adopt two cats, but I won't allow them to be parted.I DO wish people would take siblings who are obviusly bonded, as they are SUCH company for each other and the bond between them is so heart warming. It makes their lives so happy.

What nice cats! Right now I do not foresee ever owning another pet. If I do I want one or two seniors. Kittens and puppies get adopted sooner but someone seniors really need the love and specially if they have been together for years.

There are some major benefits to adopting older animals, especially if you're on the older side yourself. I'm so glad the shelter kept them for this long and got them a home together. Thanks Barb.

This brother & sister were lucky to have lived together before the shelter, at the shelter and now in a new forever home, where they look very happy!!

We have a brother & sister who we rescued before the lady took them to the shelter. They were 4 months old then, and they just turned 5 on July 4th. Our son has the other brother, so we kinda kept their family in our family (LOL)!!

First, I would just like to say that I'm glad that these cats were rescued by a no-kill shelter! They are both so beautiful and such sweet animals. So many animals who are so loving are put down every day at shelters simply because there aren't enough homes to place all the animals in! And another great point in this article, is it shows how older animals make wonderful pets and often times, sadly, they are over looked. I was also very glad to read in this wonderful article that the adopter adopted both brother and sister who had been with each other their entire lives. It really would have been sad to have to break this duo up. Bless them for their kindness and insight! Great post. Thanks Barb for this heartwarmer!
