Call on new and returning members of Congress to show us that they're ready to put the demands of people -- not special interests -- back at the heart of lawmaking.

Let's demand that Congress:

* End secret spending in elections. It's time to change the way we pay for campaigns so that our elected leaders are beholden to Main Street, not Wall Street. Congress should pass the DISCLOSE Act and the Fair Elections Now Act.

* Protect the ethics watchdog. The Office of Congressional Ethics is the only independent body that can investigate allegations of misconduct about members of Congress, and it must not be weakened or eliminated.

* Keep K Street out of the Capitol. Congressional offices and committees shouldn't be staffed by corporate lobbyists.

Please urge your member of Congress, whether new or returning, to commit to these three actions in order to protect our democracy from the undue influence of corporate and special interests!

We may have had an election dominated by special interest spending, but that doesn't mean we have to stand for a government controlled by them.

Signed, and noted...Well, I guess if we could pay our Congressmen/women more than the Corporation's do, we might get them to put the people first...Money talks...

Noted and signed. Our country is going backwards and more so now with republicans back in control. We saw how well they managed our country duirng the Bush years, and now we can expect it to be even worse than before. REPUBLICANS DO NOT CARE ABOUT THE AVERAGE CITIZEN. It's important to understand this. They do care about the very rich, well connected, and large mulitmillion dollar corporations.

Keep this in mind. If the Democrates can't get their stuff (I would use a much stronger word) together now in these last days when they can actually DO SOMETHING, then we have lost all hope. I also hope that Obama gets the testicales (for lack of a better word) to stand up to their BS (and I don't mean Bachelor of Science since they don't believe in science). and GET SOMETHING DONE FOR THE AMERICAN PEOPLE.
