How does the federal government reconcile its propaganda on the dangers of pot with the huge number of people who rely on marijuana's medicinal powers? Pretend they don't exist.

Smoking pot is sinful, I've heard that so many times. No, the real sin is making people live in constant unbearable pain, loading them up on pain medications that work and then loading them up on more medications to counteract the side effects of the original medications. That's sinful!

Beverly, You forgot the fact that alot of the pain medications that the drs perscribe are addictive. So, if you use the perscription meds for awhile then you have an addiction and have to go thru rehab and more pain to get off those types of meds. Not so with pot. Pot works for all kinds of pain. And what the governemnet is doing is down right criminal to these people who have to have pot inorder to live somewhat pain free. You call is sinful, I call it criminal that the governement is doing this!!

You're right Lisa. My sister is addicted to the painkiller she was given following surgery a few years ago. So are a lot of other people. Pot is not addictive and not only helps pain suffers but people with anorexia, cancer and multiple other diseases with no side effects. To keep someone from obtaining the medical care they need is indeed criminal, but what do we expect from a government that doesn't give it damn.

Once again people need to be reminded that Cannabis is a GOD-made plant, not a Man-made substance. What gives the so-called christian based government the right to deny us free and legal access to this SACRED HERB!!!

I don't know whether to laugh or cry over this one. I like to believe that most people who need MedMJ are capable of getting it, and have a SAFE and reliable point of access.
On the bright side here, ladies, there are now 25% of the states that legalised medical use. The present movement has been underway for 11 years now since my native California passed the Compassionate Use Act (great name!) in 1996. This is slow work, like watching glaciers move, but 12 states in 11 years is amazing progress, especially when one considers the pace at which governments generally move. The Govt. (federal) will not be able to pretend we don't exist for much longer....there are far too many of us, and we ARE getting more and more vocal. FREE THE WEED!
Thank you, my dear Bev!

I am all for the legalization of the cannibus for pain killer. I have seen it work far better many times. When my mother was a nurse and the doctors would use every medicine they could. Before they would try the pot. And when they did....Wallaaa. They patient was relieved much faster and better than any medicine on the market.......What gives anyone the right to take away the use of cannibus .When it is given to us freely and is a plant for healing, just like any other thing growing live on this planet earth...K

See Big Pharma, Big Booze and Big Tobacco -- we KNOW TOBACCO KILLS, we KNOW it's HIGHLY ADDICTIVE, we KNOW BOOZE KILLS, we KNOW it's HIGHLY ADDICTIVE, and as stated above PRESCRIPTION MEDICINES can be HIGHLY ADDICTIVE, and can KILL either through long-term use, or by overdose!

…POT IS ILLEGAL BECAUSE BILLIONAIRES WANT TO REMAIN BILLIONAIRES!

Check out this informative site for the real deal please : ) http://www.world-mysteries.com/marijuana1.htm

The weed was always free -- that's what freaks them out! They know anyone can grow it and never have to pay anyone -- ever -- to use this amazing plant.

Time to take out the trash -- Do you think politicians would make good compost?

Have to find something useful to do with them all . . .

Yet there are 8 people who get their presciption marijuana from the federal government's marijuana plantation in Mississippi...who are these 8 people? Do they have prestigious last names???
Why is the government still maintaining their marijuana plantation if it s a schedule 1 drug? I don't see federal poppy fields.
I have tried to find answers to these questions to no avail...
It all comes down to greed. How sad...

Mary: The eight people (who are now 7) got in on the ground-floor of a medical marijuana program that the FedGov started I believe in the early 70's. The program was quickly cancelled, but thse people already registered were "grandfathered" into the system. Each month they recieve 300 joints free-for-nothing. I have heard that the joints they're sent are what we in the sub-culture refer to as "schwag", in other words, s**t.
Government pot is so weak it's like drinking near-beer. When the last of these 7 people dies, the program will die with it, and unless massive public pressure comes to bear, we'll never see a program like it again. It is imperative that we vote for Dennis Kucinich, as he has stated that he will legalise Marijuana, medical and recreational, so everyone vote Dennis '08!

noted belatedly, computer problems and others. I for one am in constant pain and pot increases it and my other sensory perceptions not dulls them, it works opposite for me, although I know of many that use it for pain and drug side effects like nausa or weight gain needed. Pain meds are needed and can add quality of life and need to be prescribed and taken properly. Many abuse or sell them and tive them a bad name for those who do need them and makes it harder to get them.

I am so tired of political hypocrisy on so many levels...and this is one of them. I'd give a handsome bon mot to know how many of our national politicians smoke dope...and I bet even MORE do coke. Marijuana is a healing experience for many. It needs to be decriminalized so ANY person can enjoy its benefits. No one is forced to drink or smoke cigarettes or cigars...the same privilege should apply to marijuana.

I have to deal with pain on a daily basis, and take harmful chemical prescriptions, and steroid injections. I know that if I were able to use pot, I wouldn't have to go throug the pain and illness(from meds). I live in Texas, and there are no laws for the use of "medical marijuana". The police really watch that in little old Canton. My Dr.s have "hinted" that if I smoked a"littlePot" it would probably help, but I've got kids and I'm scared I'll get caught. So, I live with the pain, pills, and shots. Stupid polotitians!

Noted! I have lupus and I have no doubt that smoking pot would help me. Cate, I too am tired of the hypocrisy. These politicians have got to stand up for the people who need this for a quality life. Living with chronic pain and the effects of chemo is sometimes unbearable. I am a fighter and everytime people put one of those petitions to legalize pot in my face, I gladly sign it. Then I wonder where it goes. Nothing is ever put on the ballot. Gov. Bill Richardson of New Mexico just signed into law legalized medical marijuana. God Bless Him.

Pot makes friends and can be fun.
