The Fork in the Road: Which Way This World Population Day?

It's World Population Day. There are over 7 billion people on the planet. It's easy, though, to get caught up in the numbers. Real solutions go beyond the numbers, and should remind us that we are dealing with real people. What's working?

> There are over 7 billion people
- an (estimated) 7.238 billion, last time i checked, with about 2.4 humans born for every 1 who dies

So many crtiicize China for its one child policy. but it works .We need to stop breeding like rabbits and limit the size of our families.. I played my part I only had one daughter.."Be fruitful and multiply"should be amended to read "no longer be fruitful and stop multiplying" "..

There`s room for all of us. We just need to use the resources more wisely and get back to the basics before mother nature brings to realization what we have taken for granted isn`t here anymore. TY . Suzanne

If we don't stop breeding like bunnies. Nature is going to break out the pesticide. Maybe she already has, what with Ebola now rampant in Africa and new deadly diseases popping up all the time.

....and how many will die because of excess growth, over utilization of resources, famine/drought/flooding, war, etc........

I keep hoping that with all the technology, longer and potentially healthier lives, at some point more (men) would say its quality and not quantity when it comes to children and parenting................

I did not contribute to overpopulation and I have NEVER regretted it. When the numbers get cumbersome, Nature WILL cull the herd....which will happen soon if not already happening.
