Well well well - and we thought Stephen was a very clever man. Just goes to show - he is actually a comedian- together with Richard Dawkins of the "God Delusion" principle. To call us the cleverest species on planet earth is also another big joke.....clever people don't do what we do - destroy, conquer, eliminate. No WE ARE AT THE BOTTOM OF THE LADDER IN THIS GALAXY OF OURS.....AND NO SANE ALIEN RACE WOULD WANT ANYTHING TO DO WITH US.

".........conquer, enslave, destroy, colonize, and voraciously exploit the resources of Earth". Who needs aliens to do this to us? We have done it to ourselves all throughout history. There can be no species in the universe more vicious, arrogant or parasitical than humans. Our earth is being destroyed by the greedy and the stupid. Animals are sadistically abused daily. We test on, slaughter and consume animals, kill for fun and call it sport. We destroy the habitats of other species to make room for the our own breeding hordes. And we are intelligent? I don't think so.

Perhaps if we are ever invaded by aliens, they may view us as source of food to be harvested, just like we do to every animal on this planet. And why not? In the end, all we are is a hunk of meat. Pass the ketchup.

In our human arrogance and ignorance, we have so many ways and methods to self destruct. Hawking has only presented one such method. We have so many to choose right her on earth without inviting anything else to come destroy us, We already have bad water, not enough water, air pollution, planetary destruction by corporate greed using up all the resources believing that their money will protect them, wild animals foraging for food sources (and yes, we can be considered their food), terrorists, and nuclear annihilation. That should be enough to consider unless anyone would like more examples. Another thought, if any other species is advanced enough to find us and get here, we may be a food source to them.
