If our president and government want us to undergo these scans and invasive pat downs, then they need to show us that they are just as willing to subject themselves and their families (including their children) to these same treatments.

Ple

I'm #6. Thanks, Mary. I don't think this is a awful a practice as many people do...but I'd like to get their attention. The issue isn't "how many terrorists has TSA caught" as much as "how many terrorists have been prevented."

Signed of course, how about not flying anymore? I mean there are enough media gadgets available to bridge any distance, in many cases it isn't even crucial for people to meet actually in person!

Noted. I still don't know what to think of this subject, last time a travel was on 2009, and it was a long time waiting on line for security purposes, now we may need to wait longer.

Signed and emailed. Glad to see this petition. Whatever the merits and demerits of enhanced screening and enhanced patdowns, personnel of a government agency faultily launched this program to adversely affect the citizen-taxpayers who pay their salaries. Then, "highly placed" appointed and "elected" officials--who are also paid by citizen-taxpayers--exempt themselves from this intrusive process. Talk about corruption!

Two things. I'd like to know why the US doesn't use Israeli security measures. They're the best in the world. Secondly, has anyone at the NSA realized how many people will be waiting on line waiting to be scanned or patted down and that a terrorist doesn't even have to get on a plane to do damage? He'd kill more people just by standing in line and blowing himself up. I'm sure the terrorists have realized this.

Do they pat down dirty diapers too? If there ever is liquid explosives will we have to pee in a cup?How about the 2 oz of fluids we can bring in a container? Why not do drug tests on everyone while they are at it? aren't we searching for those terrible drug users as well as terrorists? How about flashing photos on a screen of America's most wanted that every one can watch while standing in line? Rewards for turning in fellow passengers?I'm sure the feds could use the revenue. cha-ching or ka-boom?

The system as implemented not only uses the potentially dangerous scanners (right now they seem to be going by "well they haven't been proven unsafe") but it discriminates against the disabled and involves what would otherwise be termed at least a form of sexual assault or molestation. If you're in any of several categories of disability, you MUST be groped. The scanner isn't even an option. This means privacy and the physical sanctity of your body is AUTOMATICALLY taken from you. You don't get a choice in the matter. Well, you can ask for a modified groping, but as several can already attest, the TSA doesn't have to grant such requests and does the gropings with quite a lot of zeal.

I have PTSD from molestation as a child, rape in college and the domestic violence. The LAST thing I need to endure is being groped by an overzealous TSA agent - that's not going to be good for me OR the agent. But because of my other disabilities, I MUST be groped. What a stupid system. And all because of ONE person who TRIED to get away with hiding something in his underwear.

I would rather have the scan than the body search. However, for security and safety I would rather have them do their job and keep our airlines safe. Everyone would be horrified and shouting if something terrible happened and they didn't do their jobs search ing for potential suicide bombers. We can't have it both ways. Unless you travel everyday, week or monthly, the occasional scan would not hurt you.

There is no way to prove a negative, so no matter what there is no way to prove if they actually work or not. You pay your money you take your chances, somethings improve you chances of safety somethings do not and you are not going to know when all is said and done which was which. And as to those flights that originate outside of the US nothing the TSA does will save anyone! Are they too invasive and too potentially dangerous well all the surveys of the flying public show that 60-68% DO NOT THINK SO. Also this whole thing smacks of just another Cluster Faux Repugnican fear and hysteria campaign to attack the Obama and his administration for me! Mr Touch My Junk and I'll Call the Cops is a know 'The Government Has No Right to do anything' extremist Libertarian activist, the 6 year old boy who was 'strip searched' had his shirt, and only his shirt, removed by HIS FATHER with absolutely request of any kind from any one from the TSA to save himself time getting on the plane.

Now quit going into hysterics at the dog whistles and think. If any terrorist wants a big fat juicy soft target the airports with all those people packed into tight coiled lines waiting to go through security are far easier to hit and they can kill or maim several planes worth of people with one device before they ever get close to being checked by security themselves. For all the yelling and whining about the TSA protocols those who are the loudest now will be ten times louder and quicker to point the finger of guilt if the TSA stops what they are doing and a plane is blown up. As for the Israelis have a so much better system for preventing terrorists on planes, that is just so much stupid, the Israeli system works on a scale that is so damn small if one compares their entire national air traffic to just NY City, Chicago or LA as to be a total joke and even then they, just like every one else has no control over who is let on a plane in another country!

As to protecting your civil and personal rights from invasive or warrant less search and or seizure, not a single one of you has any of those since the passage of the Patriot Act and other anti-terrorist/ism laws and Supreme Court rulings since 9/11, so quit pretending that you do. Hell thanks to the Repugs and the first 6 years of Bush and Cheney and the 5 Corporate Whore Majority on the Supreme Court 'Corporate Persons' and the rich have more rights, privileges and power to elect and control State and Federal Governments than all the actual citizen voters put together, remember 99.999% of American voters can vote for a president but a simple majority of the Electoral College, none of whom are elected by the 'people' or in any way accountable to the people, can elect whom ever they chose.

it's true that these people who introduced the body scans do not want to take it themselves like tony blair did not want his children to take the flu vaccine, something is wrong about body scanners because michael cherkoff who is making billions from it, and the strange thing is that three days after the crotch bomber turns up,what this is telling the world is that there is no crotch bomber or shoe bomber and that includes the liquid water bomber, there is no terrorists only the ones that the trio from hell have created, the UK,the USA and ISRAEL,these are the only war mongering rogue nations on the planet, and unless people get together and shout as one enough, if not then these body scanners will be here to stay.

the petition link is not working

The full body scanners and the pat downs are unconstitutional as they do not follow habeous corpus. The actions are illegal searches and seizures. I understand the scanners cost 50 million dollars each. That is the only reason why the scanners have been installed and are being installed. This is another give away of government money to private industry. There are more logical and less costly measures that can be taken. For example, actually hire people to patrol the airport that are well trained in spotting suspicious activity and suspicious characters. I am talking about PATROL the airport. The data has proven when there is a known physical presence, the chances of something illicit occurring are slim to none. Don't allow travelers to leave the gate area 1 hour before the flight is due to board.

I'd LOVE to sign this one. But I have not been able to sign Care2 petitions for days. There are others who have made this same complaint to Care2. I went there, I tried. keep getting a Thank You for the same petition I signed a long time ago......this one......Turn the Tables on Food Deserts -- Fight Big Food!

This whole thing smacks of living in places like Iran, Russia, North Korea, China. When we give up our rights by not standing up to those who take our rights away, we will become like those Countries. Little by little we are loosing our rights, and I'm shocked at how many people are just going along, saying "well if it makes us safe."

Look if someone wants to take out a few people, they can go stand in line before the pat down and scanner. The airport has everyone all lined up, all snaked around and compacted tightly next to each other. Before the person even gets to the security spot the bomb could be detonated. Boom......everyone in the line, next to the line, perhaps the Security people themselves are taken out. Can get as many standing in the line waiting for the airplane as there would be in the airplane.

There has NOT been a successful terrorist act on a US boarded plane in over 5 years. This act has NOTHING to do with keeping us safe! It is about profit for the a**holes that build them, and keeping Americans afraid and cooperative. Don't look behind the curtain, McCarthy is hiding there!!

We've had a report about these controls in the US airports in the French evening news today. I didn't know it could be THAT bad, come THAT far... It confirms what I'd posted yesterday on another C2 topic about the very same matter : while such procedures exist, I will NEVER be a tourist visiting the US of A. I don't want the defects of my body being exposed by a scanner, and I don't want to be physically touched in private places such as my breasts, or between my legs, by anybody else but my husband - even by a woman. NO WAY.

This video is very informative. There is also one about Ron Paul making a speech in the House of Representatives about a bill he wants passed immediately to out law the full body xrays and the body pats, or I call it foreplay. Enough of this nonsense. Write you senator and representative or call them and tell them this is enough. We will not drink the kool aid.

The article gives some insight into why these scanners are in place.
Say what one will, the scans & pat downs are against our constition, given by our fore-fathers and fought for by our fellow citizens who gave life & limb to protect our rights.
When all is said & done, it comes down to profit$, not increased security.

Everyone who experienced intrusive and humiliating airport security scanning/pat downs or has health or privacy concerns should voice their opinion directly to TSA. Filing a complaint takes only few minutes and it is essential in restoring our dignity and safety during the airport security checks. Therefore, use your right to voice your concerns. Oh, and since it is well known that these scanners cannot see inside body cavities, and since this means that the next wave of terror threats will be bombs smuggled in peoples' various orifices, that body cavity searches WILL become mandated at some point. There will be no end to the madness.

I would recommend boycotting air travel altogether, quite frankly.

I believe what we as Americans have to fear the most is right inside our own government. The act of terrorism here is so slim and what is out there our government is not looking in the wrong places. Spying on it's own citizens is not going to keep us safe. This is insane. If the government would have followed the credible leads in the early going 9/11 would not have happened. Our government ignored and fired people who reported persons here on visa's that wanted plane lessons without learning to land. We need to ask more questions.

This procedure is abombminable and must not be allowed. My body is a temple and belongs to me, and I will not be violated by an untrained, unprofessional, tsa agent, molesting me for the government. It is not Constitutional and breaks the 4th amendment, unecessary search and seizure. This is a service I pay for and is NOT a privlege like being, Head of the Dept of Homeland Security SHOULD BE. Obviously we dont have the caliber of person as head of this agency, which she SHOULD BE. When you dont have God, you dont have integrity or honor, and obviously she DOESNT, or she wouldnt allow this invasive procedure. WE need to profile individuals, not color or names, but use body language as Israel does. Quit wasting our money using procedures that arent going to STOP anything and which MOST AMERICANS dont want. You are skewing the news, when you say that all went smooth, and there werent any problems, Thanksgiving Day. Americans dont want the thuggish, gross, street behavior molestation. WE wont allow it and the xray machines cant be that SAFE!! Use dogs if you have to; dont molest Americas children justifying it as for the best. If we had the BEST, we wouldnt have this President!! Dont any of obamas advisors have ANY COMMON SENSE, or does everything they know have to come out of a book???

..and these guards don't even have to buy you dinner first...much less give you there phone number for later !

Germany has a much much better method of body searching...it detects any explosive particles on a person, their luggage etc. Without scanning under your clothing or feeling you up or throwing anyone to the floor. How boring and cost effective is that !! ?

Well, Im not planning to fly until the government changes, this perverted, molestation , anti american, sick, security procedure. I wouldnt doubt tsa is staffed by ex sex felons and strange gender people. They need to change their gloves each time, just as a doctor does, so they dont spread disease trying to stop an attack, which they havent really stopped yet, as far as an airline. I think previous yemen attack was dubious, since we have no planes that fly out of there.
