I have been doing tis for years through local Lions Clubs. I even collect glasses from optometrist shops. I started a program in the midwest with the Lions Club to set up displays in local optical shops and it increased donations by ten fold.

i was givein them to a thrift store but stopped as the sold them for so much people couldn't afford,so i wait too see where to take them in the news paper! its a great gift

Jonathan, I remember seeing the glasses donation box at the optician's shop with the Lions Clubs. I suspect they have been doing it for at least forty years, if not fifty. I give all my old glasses except for a back-up pair away.

We need to get the word out.

We've also mailed a bunch of old glasses to the Lion's Club. Great idea. I'm glad they took up the cause.
