Have you read the great ape project? Surely you would not sign to change law without reading it.

It does not elevate Great Apes, it lowers Mentally Challanged Humans and disabled to the level of an ape in some specific areas in some attempt to gift equality but that equality is not equality as the Apes only get some benifits. In other words humans decide where apes rights stand, just like it is now down to even selecting what rights they may or may not qualify for. If there is equality then there is equality....

You can't get more speciest than the act as it stands, I strongly suggest you read not just the petition but the Great Ape project and become informed.

I am not against restriction of the use of great apes, I realized some may assume that.

Read a very good book of theroy and concept "The great Ape Project" published in 1993 edited by Paola Cavalieri and Peter Singer .

The concepts are not bad concepts, they are wider in scope than just helping chimps and as written I don't believe a large country will pass it. It may pass in Spain but there are less than 300 great apes in the country including Zoos.
