Noted. It will take far more than some emails to stop monsanto, though. In europe thousands show up to a field and uproot the crops.

MAKE A RUCKUS, people! The decisions we allow to be made now may very well effect generations for hundreds of years!

STAND UP, make your voice heard. contact your local representatives REPEATEDLY! Spread the word. Talk to your neighbors. But also GET OUT THERE and STOP THEM!

Thank you very much Kenny! Signed as many as I could. So many more people must act too or otherwise none of us will end up with any choices! Terrifying prospect!

Absolutely Arielle. Not just Monsanto but Syngenta, Dupont, Aventis, Novartis and dozens more. We all concentrate on Monsanto while the rest fly under the radar undetected.

http://www.organicconsumers.org/ge/GEsugarLeaflet.pdf This is just one of the many links in the "visit site" article. They are all important. Remember to contact your grocery where you shop. Make a letter and carry copies with you when you go out to shop to give to store mgrs and other shoppers. You will be amazed to know how few people are aware of gm food, or it's hazards. Give them copies of your letters, or copy this or another article and hand out. They will not report this danger on commercial news stations. We must get more Americans informed.

Just signed one so far; I got this message to spread around -

Hi there!

If you're concerned about the safety and nutrition of the food we eat and the impact of industrial agriculture on family farmers, farm workers, animals and the environment, look into the influence the Monsanto Corporation has over US domestic and international agriculture policies.

A great resource is the Organic Consumers Association's Millions Against Monsanto page: http://www.organicconsumers.org/monlink.cfm

Organic Consumers Association is running a campaign to get voters to ask their elected officials not to accept political contributions from Monsanto.

You can find out if your Congressional representatives and the politicians running for Congress in your district take money from Monsanto here:

http://www.opensecrets.org/pacs/pacgot.php?cmte=C00042069&cycle=2010

Please ask your elected officials to refuse Monsanto's campaign contributions by clicking here:
http://salsa.democracyinaction.org/o/642/campaign.jsp?campaign_KEY=25335

Thanks for your interest! Please take action and spread the word!

This gmo thing is starting to get more and more attention and awareness is about to snowball on this very important "problem". Much more health is at risk, etc. because of these genetic abberations they would like to call food. :)

noted. I tell people I meet about some of the things that these big corps are doing and the majority of people never heard of what is really going on. I refer them to sites where they can find out this information and let them decide for themselves if they want to continue to be sheeple or finally wake up and help stop the madness. Most people never heard of GMO or as I like to call them "Frankenfoods" it fits better.

How come all the right wing activists aren't all over this, or don't they consider knowing what's in their food, or even what their food is, as been part of the "peoples right to know"?

Hi, again.
Thanks for the star, Kenny, & thanks for the post, too, btw.
It was Robert who alerted me to this post.

I would just like to share some news with you - well, it's news for me, maybe you know already..
See, after signing that petition I mentioned in my first comment up there, I got a 'thank you' e-mail from Alexis Baden-Mayer, political director of the Organic Consumers Association, who also sent the URLs of articles & updates re: Milions Against Monsanto & Organic Consumers:

"Please keep up with the Millions Against Monsanto campaign by signing up for our weekly newsletter:
http://salsa.democracyinaction.org/o/642/signUp.jsp?key=411

We post news articles on our Millions Against Monsanto page every day: http://www.organicconsumers.org/monlink.cfm

We're on Facebook:
-- Organic Consumers Association: http://www.facebook.com/organicconsumers
&
-- Stop Monsanto! http://www.causes.com/causes/62120

And Twitter: http://twitter.com/organicconsumer

And Huffington Post: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/ronnie-cummins/

Please stay in touch."

The PROBLEM is I went over to Huffington & found the following article written by Ronnie Cummins, Director, Organic Consumers Association, which is really BAD NEWS --
Posted: January 28, 2011

"The Organic Elite Surrenders To Monsanto: What Now?"

It's a long piece, too long to reproduce here, so please take advantage of the above link.

He ends with this: "If local and state government bodies refuse to take action, wherever possible we must attempt to gather sufficient petition signatures and place these truth-in-labeling initiatives directly on the ballot in 2011 or 2012. If you're interesting in helping organize or coordinate a Millions Against Monsanto and Factory Farms Truth-in-Labeling campaign in your local community(faulty link - I've asked them to fix it)
.

To pressure the nation's largest supermarket chains to voluntarily adopt truth-in-labeling practices sign here, and circulate this petition widely. (faulty link - I've asked them to fix it)

To pressure Whole Foods Market to take the lead, sign here, and circulate this petition widely. (faulty link - I've asked them to fix it )

Power to the People! Not the Corporations!

-------I hope the links will be functioning by the time I go back tomorrow.------------------

How come all the right wing activists aren't all over this, or don't they consider knowing what's in their food, or even what their food is, as been part of the "peoples right to know"?

good question John C.

I suggest that since Corps are, to these people America.... and government is the enemy, regulation/the desire for untainted food is bad, while Corporations which backed the tea party are benevolent, and would never harm us, so this anti Monsanto thing is all made up by Communists in order to steal the country and give it to the blacks/hispanics/the other, so therefor conservatives consider us the threat, not Monsanto (who loves them) or tainted frankenfood.

A recent study by eminent oncologists Dr. Leonard Hardell and Dr. Mikael Eriksson of Sweden, has revealed clear links between one of the world’s biggest selling herbicide, glyphosate (commonly known as Roundup, marketed by Monsanto), to non-Hodgkins lymphoma, a form of cancer This herbicide should not be on the market. As well as the Cancer link, as if that isn't bad enough, it is lethal to our environment; the plants we grow and the food we eat. Please count me in with thousands of others in demanding Roundup be banned in this country and the world.

This really is a subject important enough to spend working on full time to get the word out. We must stop it as I feel the survival of the planet depends on stopping it. If people will not buy GM food they will not make it, simple as that. America is pressuring other countries to plant GM foods, and WikiLeaks cables have shown this. The government is marketing for Monsanto, how do you like that?
The Righties are not on this cause they know it is dangerous too, I am sure. How can anyone be against speaking out against Genetically Modified foods, animals, plants of trees of any kind? Our bee population is down which I believe is all due to GM food pollen, and now wild flowers have been shown also to have now GM markers, so what will happen to our bird population I ask.

What can a rational person think, when a particular political party strongly supports Big Businesses, like Monsanto?

One thing for certain, while we don't excuse Monsanto's actions, we comprehend the driving force - MONEY.
What, possibly, could be the explanation for the average Republican, who espouses the so-called 'greater good' of Big Business? Unless, you are a hugh Wall Street invester, what is your payback?

Financially, Big Business benefits the wealthiest 1% of our population. Admittedly, our great nation needs them, or at least, did so more, in the past, before the age of the computer and globalization.

I am, sometimes, perplexed at the attitude of the selfish and uncaring people, on this Earth. Only when we assist each other and watch over our fellow man, can we be a happy species.

Monsanto and Co don't walk over everybody, they don't even have to 'tramp' over any, their path is 'feather-lined'; they have no ethics, they believe they're 'corporate turned human' and the world's their oyster - and as for the human population? Just another casualty in reaching their goal, which is lining their own pockets to the detriment of Planet Earth. Politics and corporates, always 'hand in hand' - disgusting. Keep your faith and never stop aspiring to convince others around you to 'band together' and help us rid the planet of this filth.

There are lots of good articles on the internet, and this article links you to many good ones. Just had an idea since I was at the grocery looking at ears of corn and mentioned to the woman next to me that I hoped they were not genetically modified ears of corn. She asked me what that was as she dd not know. I started mentioning the issue when her husband came up to drag her away. She did get a little info and I suggested she google it. But wouldn't it be good to have some handouts with links to videos and article with a brief summary of the dangers and how Americans are not given a choice. It would help get the word started out there for people who get little time on the internet. So this is a suggestion that we all start trying to educate people when we shop at the store. I know some people are pretty private and don't like strangers talking to them as if I wanted to kidnap an adult. But, it might be good to carry some with you. Just a thought.

what disturbs me more is that one company is manipulating patent law to attempt a monopoly on food.

you cannot use the seed from a Monsanto crop to grow food w/o infringing on Monsanto's patent - you either starve or they will sue you into bankruptcy

I know, it is an outrage, and the decision to allow the patenting of food once changed opened Pandora's box...all for a buck for the few, at such sorrowful cost to the many. Sick, so sick.

Thanks Kenny, Monsanto must be right up there on the 'evil list' with killers/abusers. How did they get this right to tamper with the DNA of the crops of our planet? Who gave them the patents? The people of the world need to unite against all genetic tampering with food...and we had best do this pronto before all the animals, and humans too, disappear, or are forever changed into something toxic, poisonous, or deadly. These people really do think they are god.....is there anyone out there who would relate them to the 'mark of the beast'? Just wondering...because maybe the religious pulpit could do some real life scaring of the people on earth with some truth....

GMO is a crime against the world. I am glad we can network and keep the information flowing to other people who have not yet heard the truth.
