On a magical night in 1983, Michael Jackson struck a pose on stage, clasping the black fedora on his head with his white sequined glove. His black jacket and silver vest glittered as white socks showed under his high-water black pants. Then he erupted...

I grew up listening to the Jackson's my whole life. I was a teenager when "Thriller" came out and I just loved it. I was always sad at the problems he had. Both self-created and industry/family created. He never had a chance to be a child. I will mourn the passing of a very unique and talented person. I hope his torcherd soul can finally have some peace.

I grew up listening to the Jackson 5. I remember watching The Jackson 5 & The Osmond Brothers Sat. morning cartoon. Michael had a pet snake named Ray Charles and he would travel with The J5, getting Michael into all kind of trouble. He was a good man with good intentions. I blame Joe Jackson for all of Michael's problems. I hope God has mercy on his tortured soul. Thnx Michelle.

Yes.. The world has lost an animal abuser who kept exotic pets (including elephants, tigers, and lions) in enclosures that were too small, and which were more like a roadside zoo that had no habitat enhancement at all. The world has lost someone who was investigated for animal cruelty and neglect after animals in his so called "zoo" were found surrounded by puddles of urine that they were forced to walk in and sleep in. These animals ended up in sanctuaries when Neverland ranch shut down, and Jackson never sent a single dime for their care.

The world has also lost a pervert who molested multiple children, and was able to avoid accountability not once, but twice.

Excuse me , while I DON'T shed a single tear for this man.

Thank you Black T. and Panthera Leo. I echo your sentiments. Were it not for Jackson's celebriy status, his reputation as an animal abuser, one who endangered children and a child molester would compel most people to call for him to be incarcerated if not skinned alive. I will acknowledge he had incredible talent, and never I wished death upon him. But it would be dishonest of me if I said I feel any sense of loss, and the fact that so many people apparently do is to me rather perplexing. As far as I'm concerned his talent is overshadowed by his heinous misdeeds.

I agree with Panthera Leo too, but we must remember Michael came from a very abusive father. Still it's no excuse for keeping exotic animals on his Neverland estate. I'm not shedding any tears over his loss, but even so, Michael is still God's son and no matter what he's done in his life, God still loves him. As Tim R. commented, I hope he knows Jesus Christ.

He gave back so much and helped so many, this world will be so much worse off without him in it.
RIP Michael.
And thank you Michael for doing this story on this wonderful Saint of a man.

"never charged with animal cruelty and acquitted of child molestation charges. innocent until proven guilty."

I guess you have more faith in the American criminal justice system then I do when it comes to not giving celebrities special treatment. OJ was a acquitted as well... In spite of overwhelming evidence that he committed a double homicide.

as far as never being charged with animal cruelty, I don't need formal charges for that one. I've seen photos of how animals were housed at Neverland Ranch.

It truly saddens me that even here, in Care2, so many people are willing to abandon their moral values when it comes to celebrities who it would be "politically incorrect" to criticize. If this had been any normal person, all of you defending him would be demanding that he rot in prison, or worse.

Ryan White (written by Michael Jackson) Ryan White, symbol of justice Or child of innocence, messenger of love Where are you now, where have you gone? Ryan White, I miss your sunny days We careles...

White drove a red Mustang convertible, a gift from Michael Jackson. ...

Ryan later told the Commission that his townspeople's ignorance and fear regarding AIDS led him to become the target of jokes and some spread lies about him biting people, spitting on vegetables and cookies (and thus supposedly spreading the disease), restaurants throwing away dishes he had eaten from and students vandalizing his locker and writing obscenities and anti-gay slurs (because at that time, AIDS was believed to be a disease primarily of gay men) on his books and folders. An even more frightening incident occurred when someone fired a bullet into White's home.

i need evidence, and the pictures i've seen look like every other zoo. i'm not a fan of zoos, but at least his served a charitable purpose. and alot of eccentric people do things that average people can't understand. that doesn't make them perverts or criminals.

In my humble opinion, this wonderful soul, was innocent of the past awful crimes, and he was a compassionate humanitarian. I grew up with Michael Jackson's music, and I now regret not going to a concert of his, when an opportunity came to me. He was an outstanding Artist, and he will be missed in this physical world. He was in pain, internally and externally...., which was too challenging for him to overcome. Everything happens for reason, and Michael needed this peace that he ached for....

I am sorry that so many feel he is guilty, and I shall not be the first to cast that stone. There have been countless vultures manipulating all his affairs, legally and financially. Families that he befriended so generously, turned to extort money from his mounting wealth, and loving generosity. He loved animals and he loved children. This world of perversion and righteous over another, is INHUMANE within itself. I believe Michael Jackson took better care of his animals than most puppy mills and digressing gas shelters.

He is another Angel, now.., as another child of Source or "God." He might have seemed bizarre to some human beings, but to the Universe he is another massive Light within the ALL. Peace and Blessings to his soul and his family....much love..namaste

If he truly loved animals he would'nt have kept them in such INHUMANE conditions. Some people who claim to love animals only keep them for amusement or for some sick form of what they consider 'entertainment' like the man in Louisianna who keeps Tony the Tiger in a cage. Animal cruelty is dispicable, and it does'nt matter if the offender is Michael Vick or Michael Jackson. It's no secret that a lot of animal cruelty exists without the offenders ever being charged. In this case they were probably overlooked because of his celebrity status. Maybe he bribed his way out of any animal cruelty charges just as he used much of his money to buy his way out of responsibility for the child molestation charges. It's not right that celebrities can committ crimes and never be held accountable for them. For me it is disheartening that so many people at Care2 are compromising their principles....abandoning them completely in this instance....just for this one individual and just because of his talent and the fact that he gave to many charities.

Michael had a great love for animals. I'm a believer in Born Free, but he felt a connection with animals (not a reason to own them) but some will argue the same thing about domestic cats and dogs. Neverland ranch was investigated back when they were out to hang Michael for anything in 2006. The lynch mob posse came out empty handed. NO ANIMALS WERE EVER HARMED BY MICHAEL JACKSON. And until our government gets off their butts and stops anybody & everybody from owning live exotic animals (especially those who poach endangered animals) this will continue.

wow, Kathy, you shoulda done your own news item for M. Jackson, ty for all the info, I always knew he did a lot but had no idea how great he really was, how giving!
as far as the allegations against him, I will not believe he hurt that boy, and what stupid parent will allow their child to be a plaything for an adult? that was insane, I don't care who the icon is, you NEVER allow a child to have a sleep over with a grown up. they set him up, I will always believe that, and I believe in MJ's childlike mind, he thought it was okay to have his little boy relationships with children. sure, he needed counseling for that, but this does not make one a pedophile.
I only hope the parents of that little boy didn't damage his thinking process forever, what kind of counseling did HE get?
ty Michelle for the article, the entire world will miss him in many ways.

and as far as the animal investigation goes, they did it because it was sensational to the public, not because the officials cared, if they cared we wouldn't have abusive circus and zoo, horrible concentration camps called puppy mills, the list is endless. how often do we beg officials to investigate those areas, to no avail? they care not because most people are looking the other way.

"The lynch mob posse came out empty handed. NO ANIMALS WERE EVER HARMED BY MICHAEL JACKSON."

I consider keeping lions and tigers and such penned up in small bare enclosures with no habitat enrichment programs to be harmful to them, and their mental state of well being. So YES, ANIMALS WERE HARMED BY MICHAEL JACKSON.

It's my understanding that all photos taken of the Neverland zoo were aerial shots taken long after all the animals were gone and the place was no longer being kept up. The total size of the ranch is 2,538 acres.

Wildcats Find New Sanctuary at Shambala
Wildcats Find New Sanctuary

Shambala founder says people who buy wild animals as pets are selfish.

6/29/2006
Signal Staff

ACTON — Wildcats — such as lions, tigers and bobcats — are not pets, emphasizes Tippi Hedren, founder and president of the Roar Foundation and the Shambala Preserve located near Acton, a sanctuary that currently houses endangered exotic cats, many of which have been mistreated in the past.
“Don’t ever consider a wild animal a pet,” Hedren said. “It doesn’t matter whether it is a little squirrel in your backyard or a Siberian Tiger. They deserve their freedom.”
Shambala recently took in two 6-year-old tigers who lived on Michael Jackson’s Neverland Ranch in Los Olivos. Jackson used the same veterinarian as Shambala, Martin Dinnes, who recommended that when Neverland’s zoo closed, the tigers be taken to Shambala, Hedren said.
The tigers, the female Thriller and the male Sabu, have been on the facilities since early April. Like all of the cats at Shambala, the tigers will spend the rest of their lives, which are often around 20 years, at the sanctuary.
Hedren said the tigers were not mistreated while at Neverland as an animal rights organization had alleged.
“Do those beautiful animals look like they were mistreated?” she asked pointing to the two tigers lying contentedly in the shade of their new habitat. “They were perfectly taken care of.”
In December, the Department of Agriculture sent an inspector to Neverland in response to a complaint from People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, but the inspector found no signs of mistreatment.
Hedren, who is best known for her starring role in the 1963 Alfred Hitchcock film, “The Birds,” and as the mother of actress Melanie Griffith, opened the preserve in 1972 after falling in love with wildcats while filming two films in Africa during the late 1960s, she said.
“At the time, environmentalists were saying if things continued as they were, by the year 2000 (exotic cats) would be completely gone,” Hedren said.
She and her husband at the time, Noel Marshall, decided they wanted to produce a film featuring the magnificent endangered creatures, which eventually led to the purchase and founding of Shambala after they rescued many wildcats to use in the film. After a long production process, the film, “Roar” starring Hedren, Marshall, Griffith and wild lions from Shambala was eventually released in 1981.
Hedren founded the Roar Foundation in 1983, which raises all the funds to keep the Shambala Preserve open. The foundation must raise more than $1 million annually to maintain the facilities, Hedren said. The current construction of a new tiger compound for Thriller and Sabu will cost close to $70,000.
Jackson’s former tigers are only two of the 71 wild cats living at the 42-acre sanctuary. Most of the cats are the result of illegal breeding and sale within the United States. The exotic animal industry is just after the illegal drug industry in size, Hedren said.
“Every animal here has a story,” said Hedren, who has lived in a small house on the preserve facilities since 1976.
Hedren shared the horrors that many of the cats had gone through while owned by private citizens. More than 80 wildcats were found in a feces and trash-filled facility outside of Colton. The animals were kept in very little space with no water. Fifty-eight dead tiger cubs were found in the freezer. The owner had been trying to breed them.
Many people think a cute cub would make a great pet, but then mistreat or abandon them once they get older, bigger and more fierce, Hedren said. One of the sanctuary’s lions was found walking down a street in Missouri after being abandoned by its owners.
“People who buy these animals as pets are selfish,” she said. “There is nothing they can give a wild animal that they need other than medical care.”
In the past and currently, Hedren has been working to get legislation passed that will stop the breeding, sale and mistreatment of the creatures. Not only is it dangerous for the animals, but it is extremely dangerous for the people who buy the wild animals, she said.
She campaigned in front of Congress for the Captive Wildlife Safety Act, introduced by Rep. Howard “Buck” McKeon, which passed and was signed into law by President George W. Bush on Dec. 19. The legislation bans the interstate trade and transportation of wild big cats.
Hedren is authoring the tentatively titled Shambala Wild Animal Protection Act of 2006, which would ban the breeding and selling of wild cats. Currently, less than 20 states have laws on wild cat breeding, Hedren said.
“(Legislation) is the only way the breeding will stop,” she said. “But, it’s the enforcement of it that makes it work.
“The sad thing is even after the bill is put into fruition and enforced there will still be 20 years of accidents because the life span of the big cats in captivity can be 20 plus years.”

Panthrea leo you are entitled to your opinion.
I'm just offering facts to others to show Michael had a great love for animals, & though many of us do not agree with zoos, his intentions were never meant to harm any living creature. Michael never profited off the animals. His intent was to take very good care of them and to introduce them to children. Again, I don't agree with owning any wild animals unless found injured and needing help, then released or sanctuaried.
visit www.shambala.org or call 268-0380.
If you really want to help the big cats can use all the donations & lobbying for new laws that they can get.

No. He did not have great love for animals. They were toys to him. I didn't say he ever intended to harm them. but he did harm them by keeping them in enclosures that were not large enough, and that did not any form of habitat enrichment program. His intent was not to take very good care of them. If it was, he would have had habitat enrichment programs in place.

Those who truly love wild animals do not keep them locked up as pets.

Excellent comments Kathy, you absolutely rock. The tool to agree to disagree RESPECTFULLY, is an awesome tool. However, not all human-beings seem to embrace this flow of communication. Thank you for sharing the FACTS of the many accusations against this man. Those who hated him for his animals in Neverland, his hair, his face, his nose, his childlike and innocent perspective of the world, will surely feel "delight" over his death. Even in death, this outstanding man will be condemned by some who feel they are perfect in all they do, and feel they can offer valid opinions of others, who aren't perfect, in "their" eyes. The feel they "can" cast their stones, in blind righteousness.

It was Michael's time to join the Universal Powers, and he will now SHINE in the ALL.

The facts are these:

Michael Jackson had abandoned his Neverland ranch sometime in 2005, but there were still animals in the zoo which were being poorly taken care of. "When I arrived at Neverland, I was surprised to see that it was in shambles. Buildings, amusement rides, industrial equipment, personal automobiles, and Jackson's personal zoo and Tipi village were falling apart.", said Darren Julien (an auctioneer) in a declaration filed with Los Angeles Superior Court.

Jackson's Neverland ranch was ordered to shut down, and Jackson fined $160,000 for not paying his employees. The neglected animals in the Neverland zoo were initially turned over to county animal welfare officials for care. Some of the animals were later auctioned off at 1/3 of their value (who knows where these exotic animals ended up that were bought at auction).

I'm sorry, but this is not the sign of someone who loves animals, and is trying to take good care of them.

Where are Michael Jackson's Exotic Animals?
ORIGINAL AIRDATE: 3/10/2008

When Michael Jackson left Neverland Ranch right after his acquittal on child molestation charges, he also left behind his world-famous private zoo filled with exotic animals.

Jackson is now living in Las Vegas, but what ever happened to the animals?

INSIDE EDITION tracked them down living in a huge warehouse in a remote town in the middle of the Arizona desert.

And here they are! Only INSIDE EDITION was allowed to see the animals, which include gentle giraffes, deadly snakes, and wild parrots from the Amazon. But how did these animals end up in the Arizona desert?

A woman named Freddie Hancock brought them to Arizona. She bought two dozen animals from Jackson after she heard he was trying to find homes for them. She had plenty of room in the huge building she owns, where she rents boats on the shores of Lake Powell.

But she has no experience handling wild animals and did her own research on taking care of them. Hancock won't say what she paid, but she says reports they were neglected after Jackson left Neverland are just not true.

"Everything [at Neverland] was incredibly impeccable...clean and we were so impressed with the habitats they had for the animals and impressed with the level of care they gave to the animals," said Freddie.

Freddie Hancock went to Neverland Ranch fully intending to bring home just one giraffe. But, she says once she got there she fell in love with all four and had to bring them home with her

Hancock built platforms to make it easier to feed the giraffes, which grow to be 18 feet tall. One giraffe, named Princess, was so gentle that INSIDE EDITION's Kristina Guerrero could feed her by hand. However her stall-mate Rambo was a little more rambunctious.

Freddie Hancock told INSIDE EDITION she plans to soon turn her new collection of animals into a wildlife preserve open to the public. And one person she hopes will visit? Michael Jackson.

"I think he would be impressed to see where the animals are," explained Freddie.

GRACE: So I`m trying to find out about that $200 million he is supposed to pay up in December. Is he selling Neverland? And what about recent allegations that all of his exotic animals have gone uncared for while he is in Bahrain?

BRIAN OXMAN, MICHAEL JACKSON`S ATTORNEY: The Department of Agriculture made an inspection of the ranch. They found it to be in complete order. There is no problem with the animals. He takes care of them marvelously.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-530257/Tumbledown-abandoned-The-ruins-Michael-Jacksons-Neverland.html

Jackson deserted the property in July 2005, when he was cleared of the child molestation charges, and fled to Bahrain in the Persian Gulf.

Meanwhile authorities in Santa Barbara ordered Neverland to be closed down after the star failed to pay his employees or keep up his insurance payments.

Since then the dream park has been left to rot.

The ranch was once famous for its zoo, stocked with elephants, giraffes, lions and monkeys. But the exotic animals have gone to other homes.

Jackson's pet monkey - Bubbles - is in a sanctuary and the horses are at a children's riding school.

They were NOT well cared for. This is why they were turned over county animal welfare officials after Jackson abandoned his Neverland ranch and stopped paying his employees and the ranch started to fall apart.

No amount of wanting to believe this did not happen will change the fact that it did. You can look it up with the Las Angeles court system if you want to. Jackson simply abandoned his animals, stopped paying the people who were supposed to be taking care of them, and then the animals were turned over to county welfare officials.

Again, NOT the signs of someone who cared about his animals.

Panthera Leo (18)
Sunday June 28, 2009, 10:39 am
BTW, keep in mind that zoos are NOT required to have habitat enrichment programs, and unfortunately, may zoos do not. The fact that investigator didn't find any evidence of abuse does NOT mean there was no animal neglect going on. You haven't provided any reliable accredited information about any habitat enrichment programs that were going on at Neverland ranch. Why? Because there were none.

"The Department of Agriculture made an inspection of the ranch. They found it to be in complete order."

First of all, I lawyers always put the best spin on their client. So no, I do not take Jackson's lawyer's statement at face value. "He takes marvelous care of his animals" means "Minimum standards were met". The other issue is that The Department of Agriculture is in NO WAY qualified to make this determination. That is one complaint I and other people fighting for the rights of exotic animals have had for years. The Department of Agriculture's agents are not trained to deal with the needs of exotic animals. Also, not finding any problems means "met minimum government standards", which are deplorably low.

Also, court documents show that some of these animals were auctioned off, and that they were turned over toe county animal welfare officials after Jackson abandoned the ranch and stopped paying the people who were supposed to take care of them.

Again this is not hate mongering. People who love their animals do not abandon them and stop paying the people who are supposed to take care of them. If you honestly think this is acceptable behavior for an animal lover, I certainly hope you do not have any pets.

I'm not even going to worry about convincing those with so much hate in them about the animals. They are all in good homes now according to ALL SOURCES including State officials. NONE were ever impounded. Even PETA admitted they never checked the facts. (And flies are not animals:)
For those who never realize that apparently Michael had to defend himself about BOTH allegations at the trial (AND HE WAS ACQUITTED)
Here is a link to the trial (I didn't even know this) it's sickening what some low lifes will do for money. Here is the reason Michael Jackson is dead in my opinion. Greed, & Jealousy has cost us a very great, unselfish humanitarian.

Panthera, you are desperately trying to point out something, at a time that most of Michael Jackson's assets were frozen, he was forced to file bankruptcy, he was trying not to lose Neverland, and with his money frozen, he couldn't even pay the workers of Neverland. He had nothing to do with the conditions of Neverland at the period, you are referencing, when his hands were completely tied. Losing Neverland was taking away, who Michael Jackson really was..., A LOVING SOUL WHO LIVED LIFE THROUGH THE EYES OF A CHILD.

Kathy C.,

There were strong enough similarities between the boy's description of marks on Jackson's genitals, and what his genitals actually looked like, that i find it very hard to believe he had not seen them.

Remember also that Jackson himself admitted on a news interview that he shared his bed with some of the young boys at his ranch, and he believed there was nothing wrong with doing so. It is definitely clear this is a man who did not know where to draw the line between what is appropriate and what is not appropriate for an adult man to do with a young boy. How far things actually went we will never know. But there was definitely some inappropriate behavior, and I believe it at least involved exposing himself to one of the boys based on his description of Jackson's genitals (strong similarities are not likely to be coincidence.)

I agree the loss of Neverland was probably the final nail in his coffin, but it was not the only nail. The first nails were placed in it 40 years ago by his abusive father who never let him live a normal childhood.

The LA County Prosecutors had a quest to destroy Michael Jackson, because they failed to win in court. What he could do in this nation was restricted compared to what he could do in ALL other nations of this globe.

Get the facts right. That County forced the shut down of Neverland, and limited what this man COULD do, as they kept citing him for everything, bogusly. The "Law" has a way of getting to you, if they want to, especially if their EGOS lead the way.

My facts are straight. Yes, the county forced it to shut down because he had abandoned it, it was not being taken care of, and he was not paying his employees.

"I am very familiar with child molestation cases, and this man was and IS INNOCENT."

Well, I believe he was and IS GUILTY, and like OJ, he was not convicted because of his celebrity status. I think there was more than enough evidence to convict him. Also, one does not settle out of court for $24 million dollars on the condition of silence unless their is damning evidence and they really don't want something that person knows from becoming part of the public record.

It's obvious we are not going to convince each other.

EXACTLY, you proved my point. The DA couldn't FIND any other WITNESS out of THOUSANDS of kids and parents......THEY HAD NO CASE.

Dar is so correct. Pedophile never stops. Since Michael Jackson was so famous and so many children had been there,,, if he truly had been quilty he couldn't have stopped at 2 and believe me the FBI would have nailed him.
And they looked for anything they were so hungry to convict him.

On July 2, 1993, in a private telephone conversation, Chandler was tape recorded as saying,

There was no reason why he [Jackson] had to stop calling me...I picked the nastiest son of a bitch I could find [Evan Chandler's lawyer, Barry Rothman], all he wants to do is get this out in the public as fast as he can, as big as he can and humiliate as many people as he can. He's nasty, he's mean, he's smart and he's hungry for publicity. Everything's going to a certain plan that isn't just mine. Once I make that phone call, this guy is going to destroy everybody in sight in any devious, nasty, cruel way that he can do it. I've given him full authority to do that. Jackson is an evil guy, he is worse than that and I have the evidence to prove it. If I go through with this, I win big-time. There's no way I lose. I will get everything I want and they will be destroyed forever...Michael's career will be over.[2]

—Evan Chandler
In the same conversation, when asked how this would affect his son, Chandler replied, "That's irrelevant to me...It will be a massacre if I don't get what I want. It's going to be bigger than all us put together...This man [Jackson] is going to be humiliated beyond belief...He will not sell one more record".[2] The recorded conversation was a critical aspect of Jackson's defense against the upcoming allegation made against him. He and his supporters argue that he was the victim of a jealous father whose only goal was to extort money from the singer.[2]

In early August, Chandler, a registered dentist, extracted a tooth from his son's mouth, and was later forced to admit that he used the controversial sedative sodium Amytal during the procedure.[1] Under the influence of the drug,

They DID have a case with the boy's testimony. The strong similarities between the boy's description of Jackson's genitals and what they actually looked like would have been enough for a conviction. But again, Jackson bought off the witness for $24 million dollars to prevent him from testifying at the criminal trial. You don't do that unless you know he has damning evidence against you that you don't want coming out.

Also, a former maid claimed she saw Jackson in the shower with a young boy once. Granted, the maid had been fired, so she's not the most reliable witness (and she did sell her story for money). But there WERE other witnesses.

Also, keep in mind that the second boy and his family refused to settle out of court. So if they had some ulterior motive, it was not money. The second family wanted to see the criminal trial all the way through.

Wanting to destroy someone and ruin them because they sexually molested your son is NOT evidence that the accusations were made up. I would want to do the same thing to anyone who had harmed my son.

How Michael Jackson thrilled Russia
By Stephanie Busari
CNN

(CNN) -- Michael Jackson's fame truly knew no borders: He was even the first international popstar to perform in post-Soviet-era Russia.

Jackson first visited Moscow in September 1993, just two years after the fall of the Soviet Union. Until then, it had been illegal even to purchase his songs.

The historic concert sparked scenes of near-hysteria among young Russians who embraced him as a symbol of all things American.

Their devotion was all the more extraordinary as few of them had seen images of what he looked like: Russian television didn't show his videos or play his music in the 1980s.

According to pop music historian Dmitry Babich, "Video culture was not very developed in Russia, there were very few VCRs. Michael Jackson became a legend without people seeing him a lot.

"So when Russian television became liberalized, young kids of 17, 18, 19 years of age wanted to watch only him.

"The concert of 1993 was really a major event, not only in terms of pop culture but history in general. It was the first big concert of a world star in Russia," Babich told the Russian News & Information Agency.

The open-air concert was held at the Luzhniki Open Arena in Moscow. Jackson was three hours late, yet the large crowd waited patiently for his arrival in the torrential downpour.

Vladimir Ivanenko, National Producer for Russia's Retro FM station told CNN he remembered watching Jackson's concert on television in 1993.

"It was delayed for 3 or 4 hours," he said. "It was a very rainy day in Moscow that evening and it was an open air concert. It was so wet that his assistants had to sweep the stage all the time during the songs," he said.

"For people in Russia it was something extraordinary," Ivanenko continued. "Everyone was excited that Michael Jackson was in Russia. The quality of the show and sound was shocking for people. He put on quite a show for them. It was incomparable to anything they had ever seen."

Jackson visited Russia twice, in 1993 and 1996. He was also the first Westerner to appear in an advert on Russian TV. More facts about Jackson's life »

Ivanenko said: "For Russians, America was like another planet and Michael Jackson was the king of that planet ... (He) was seen as the face of the crazy American life."

Part of Jackson's appeal, Ivanenko told CNN, was that there was a forbidden fruit element about him.

His music was not played during the Soviet era as there was only state radio. His music was from America and America was supposed to be an enemy," Ivanenko said.

"Jackson's music was not available at all," he continued. "It was the same for all the international artists. Friends passed it to each other and that was the main source of distribution. iReport.com: Share your favorite Jackson memory Jackson

"It was all done completely illegally," he explained. "Someone would bring their long-play tape deck and record it for others, that's how it was distributed, but if you wanted to buy a real one, you had to buy it from the black market."

But it was not just for his music that he proved popular among Russians, Ivanenko told CNN.

"I think Michael Jackson was more popular as a personality than as a musician. For us living in Soviet-era Russia, we were much more closer to Europe and European music and culture than to American music."

"His music is kind of extraordinary for Russian listeners. It was based on funk and a style that Russians were not used to. The music is not very close to Russians' soul. They mostly prefer the music of Abba and Boney M."

Ivanenko added that people in Russia were very shocked at the news of Jackson's death.

"People are very shocked whether they like his music or not," he said. "Michael Jackson is a true music legend and he was too young to die."

Fans in Asia Remember Jackson Fondly
By Stephanie Ho
Beijing
26 June 2009

People in Asia woke Friday to news of the death of Michael Jackson, an American pop icon who left behind fans throughout the region.

The music sounds like the 1983 Michael Jackson-Paul McCartney duet, "Say, Say, Say." The singer though is China's top rocker Cui Jian, who recorded this cover in the 1990s.

Throughout Asia, people were saddened by news of the death of the pop superstar.

In Taipei, Claire Chen said she at first did not believe it.

Chen says her sister called her Friday morning and told her the news. She says she thought Jackson was going back on tour soon, but after she realized the singer was indeed dead, she went to watch all of his videos on YouTube.

In Seoul, 49-year-old Jung Ji-Sun remembers he was able to become wealthy, even though he was black, because he was a brilliant singer.

Jung says she remembers songs like "Billie Jean" and "Beat It."

She says she used to imitate his gestures and moves during aerobic dance sessions. Now, she says she feels grief and sorrow.

In China, 28-year-old musician Ray Wang says he heard his first Michael Jackson song, "Dangerous," when he was 14 years old.

He didn't like it at the time, but grew to like and appreciate Jackson' music more as he got older.

Wang says there are many musicians in China who were influenced by him. He says all Chinese musicians have at least heard the American singer's songs.

At the same time, he says it has been hard for Chinese fans to separate the man from the music.

Wang says many Chinese people don't like how the black singer lightened his skin, in what they saw as an unnatural effort to become white.

Although that is one of the strongest memories Chinese people have, Wang says they also will remember Jackson's dancing and the unique way he sang. Wang says although another person may try to sing a Jackson song, he will never be able to give it the same feeling.

And he was aquitted of the other bogus charge. This man had to go through this twice. Very few, if any, have done as much as Michael Jackson for the suffering and dying, in this world.

The maid wasn't reliable and out for money, so she definitely wasn't a good witness for the defence, heh. Again, you prove my point. Thousands of children have been with Michael Jackson over the many years, and the DA could find no one. You are just in denial at this point. Kathy's comment of his activism was outstanding.

I'm not in denial. The people who think he is innocent are the ones in denial, they just can't believe their hero was hiding such a dirty little secret. There are people who still believe OJ Simpson is innocent as well. Again, its just a case of celebrities getting special treatment in the justice system. A normal person would have been convicted.

I notice both you and Kathy have neatly avoided the question how it i possible that the boy was able to describe Jackson's genital markings with strong similarity if he had never seen them. And why Jackson was willing to buy this witness off for $24 million dollars so he would not testify in the criminal trial.

BTW, there was a also a security guard who worked for Jackson who claimed he knew about Jackson's activities with young boys. Again, he sold his story. You can choose to believe that all of these people were just trying to extort him. I highly doubt it though.

Also, keep in mind that the kids who claimed Jackson molested them both had long relationships with him, went on tours with him etc. These were kids he apparently felt special attraction to. Not just one of the many hundreds who spent one day at Neverland or something.

Also, if you know a lot about molestation of children (as you have said you do), then you also know that most cases of it never get reported because the child is too afraid or embarrassed to admit it happened, or because the child feels some false sense of loyalty to the person doing the molestation. The whole "We share a special gift with each other. And it's a very special secret you can't tell anyone" form of psychological control child molesters often have over children. The fact that the DA couldn't find any other children who claimed they had been molested does not mean it didn't happen. Only that the children were too afraid or embarrassed to report it.

nobody is in denial. some people just require the absolute proof of a conviction. and o.j. didn't get off because the jury was hypnotized by his celebrity. the prosecution put forth that the glove belonged to the killer. the glove didn't appear to fit. those jurors considered that reasonable doubt. how could the killer's glove not fit the supposed killer.

I wasn't present Panthera, to determine "how" and "why" anyone's genitals were seen or inspected.....No one can. We weren't there. OJ has nothing to do with Michael Jackson, and didn't even do a tiny fraction, that Michael generously and lovingly gave the world.

Panthera, I am a survivor of child molestation, as was my mother. I just finished a trial of my daughter's molestation at age 11, that was done by a member of the family that fooled everyone. No one would have thought this man, could do such a thing. So YES, I consider myself very intuitive and knowledgable with CHILD MOLESTATION. This crime has touched three generations in my family. I WOULD NEVER accept MONEY over a CRIMINAL TRIAL against a child molester of MY DAUGHTER..., NEVER.

There is no such thing as absolute proof. Even the law doesn't require absolute proof for a conviction. And, the glove did fit. OJ put on an act pretending it didn't and the jury bought it. But it wasn't the glove that convinced the jury anyway, It was the fact that it wasn't OJ Simpson that was on trial, It was the LAPD, The jury bought into a story about the police intentionally framing OJ, because one cop was caught in a few phone conversations using the N word. The DNA evidence implicating Simpson was overwhelming. But the jury chose to believe it was an an elaborate frame job by the LAPD and a DA trying to make a name for herself by bringing down a big celebrity sports star.

Dar D, I'm sorry to hear that happened to you and to other members of your family and I hope the person responsible is brought to justice.

I wasn't there there either. But the court documentation says that the genital inspection revealed "strong similarities with the boy's description, but not definitive proof". It was apparently strong enough that Jackson was willing to pay $24 million dollars to keep a jury from ever hearing it.

Btw just in case you had forgotten about the following evidence (it slipped my mind as well until just now).

- Two books full of pictures of naked boys were seized from his home. Technically they were not child pornography because they did not show any child sex acts. However, one of the books titled "The Boy: A photographic Essay" contained explicit pictures of the genitals of the genitals of young boys.

- One of the boys claimed Michael Jackson showed him and his brother pornographic magazines. And in fact, the fingerprints of BOTH of the boy and his brother were found on some of the 70 pornographic magazines found in Jackson's home.

- There actually was a third accuser. A boy by the name of Jason Francia. He claimed that on two occasions, Jackson touched him inappropriately after reaching into his underpants, and that he was paid $100 both times not to tell his mother. Jackson paid $2 million dollars to avoid having this go to trial, once again, in exchange for silence.

I really don't see how anyone can look at all of this evidence combined and say there weren't in appropriate relations with children. Between the one boy describing marks on Jackson's genitals, the books with explicit pictures of nude boys, the fact that the fingerprints one of the accusers and his brother were found on some of the 70 pornographic magazines in Jackson's house, and the fact that twice he paid off accusers to avoid having it go to court... There's just too much evidence here that this so called hero was engaging in, and hiding, a dark secret.

Panthera Leo (18)
Sunday June 28, 2009, 5:08 pm
Kathy, the report actually said "strong similarities' not "some similarities". The strong similarities involved the boy describing specific aspects of his genitalia based on the the fact that they had changed color because of the Vitiligo he suffered from. (No, I am not one of those people who believes *that rumor* about him intentionally doing things to become white. There's not reason for him to lie about that. I believe he really did have Vitiligo).

It didn't slip your mind, you have been desperately searching for some media to give you a way to claim that you aren't in denial. It is your choice, but call it what it is. I could care less what his private reading materials were, and that is how the media sold papers. You have no clue of what sexual molestation really is, and your opinion is mute to a survivor, because it makes no sense, but only seems hateful. You went from animal abuser to now gentials....I think this has disgressed enough, and I apologize to the original poster, as I don't feel this topic is about my case nor OJ.

Panthera Leo (18)
Sunday June 28, 2009, 5:32 pm
Actually, yes it did slip my mind. I just now had remembered something about pornography being involved but could not remember the details. So I looked it up.

His private reading materials are his private reading materials until he starts showing pornography to pre-teen boys. Again, the fingerprints of both the boy and his brother were found on some of the magazines. This is NOT desperately searching for evidence to support denial. It's SOLID evidence that while at Michael Jackson's house, these children viewed pornographic magazines.

And yes, I have a clue of what sexual molestation really i. And I don't see how you can say my opinion makes no sense. There is overwhelming evidence beyond a reasonable doubt.

The only person in denial here is you. You keep accusing me of being in denial, but you won't address any of the evidence other than saying "his personal reading material is his own business". It's NOT when he is sharing it with young boys. Your in denial because you simply don't want to accept that this "hero of human rights" had this dark secret.

The people I feel bad for here are the children who had to go through a trial and give embarrassing testimony about what happened to them, only to be denied justice in the end because the jury was not willing to convict an untouchable celebrity like Jackson, even though they had more than enough evidence to do so.

Dar D. (280)
Sunday June 28, 2009, 7:51 pm
"There is overwhelming evidence beyond a reasonable doubt."

Again, you don't make sense. If this was true, he wouldn't have been aquitted, heh. You ARE in denial. FACTS were given to you of his activism, but you ignored them. You have some attraction to the tabloids, perhaps. YOU can't prove how these boys looked at any magazine, Panthera. You are grasping at anything. Those people or boy are enjoying themselves in wealth.

Like I said, with all the information given, you are making NO sense, and Michael Jackson was NEVER CONVICTED of this crime. He is innocent in the eyes of the LAW, and MINE. To me, heh, that is all that matters. You are scrambling online to find nonsense that the DA tried, well guess what, it didn't work for the DA, and it doesn't for you. Wake up and LEARN what is truth.

Panthera Leo (18)
Sunday June 28, 2009, 8:25 pm
Um... Again, it would not be the first time that someone has been acquitted despite overwhelming evidence beyond a reasonable doubt. Keep in mind that the ENTIRE jury must agree that someone is guilty in order to return a guilty verdict. I am NOT in denial. You clearly are. By your twisted logic, we could also say that everyone in prison is really guilty because, well, a court found them guilty. I don't believe everyone who has been found guilty really is. I also don't believe everyone who has been acquitted really is. I make up my own mind.

I did not ignore the facts about his activism. But activism does not justify child molestation.

No I can't prove that the boys weren't running around the house unsupervised and came across his porn stash on their own (although if that is what happened, he really shouldn't have left it where children can find it if he's gonna have children over).

I do not read tabloids. Not at all. All you have done at this point is lower yourself to making personal attacks against me about reading tabloids, etc. I'm going to assume that means you don't have anything useful left to contribute to this conservation.

I know what is the truth, and as I said, the only one who is being unreasonable now is you. You are demanding ABSOLUTE PROOF of his guilt. There is no such thing as absolute proof. Nothing i have said is nonsense. It is all legitimate evidence.

But keep living in your little dream world where Jackson was a saint who couldn't possibly have done anything wrong if it makes you feel better. Keep ignoring the evidence, just like the jury did, if it makes you feel better.

I will remind you though that the second boy didn't get ONE DIME out of this. There was no civil lawsuit in the second case. That was a criminal trial. The only thing the second boy got out of this was being embarrassed and humiliated, and having justice denied to him when the jury didn't believe him, and ignored the evidence.

This is, unfortunately, another reason molested children often give for why they don't report it: They don't think they will be believed. Unfortunately, in this case, that proved to be correct.

Dar D. (280)
Sunday June 28, 2009, 10:27 pm
175 Witnesses were in that trial, and the jury still came back with NOT GUILTY. who is in denial? heh.

This is a nice assumption on your part..heh, unless of course you have spoken to him and know everything that everyone experienced in this situation. Dang your abilities are better than mine. I don't have a clue what all those involved felt or did, but somehow you do..., strange. You should patent that gift!

You make no sense with these type of statements. I would think you had more animals to save, as I certainly do with everything else.

This is another HUGE assumption on your part of today's cases..

I forgot that kids enjoy telling the public details about how they were sexually molested. It's so much fun for them. Give me a break seriously...

Everything I had said has made perfect sense. But I'm not going to play your childish game anymore of this back and forth "You are in denial. No you are. No you are" stuff.

Jacko: $20 Mil Kid Gets Order Against Dad

A strange turn of events among the peripheral people in Michael Jackson’s odd world has taken place.

According to court papers obtained by this column, the young man who, in 1994, settled with Michael Jackson for $20 million was allegedly physically assaulted last year by his own father.

Jordan Chandler, now 26, filed a request for a restraining order against his father on August 5, 2005. The reason for the order was that Evan Chandler, formerly a dentist and an aspiring screenwriter, had allegedly hit Jordan over the head from behind with a twelve and a half pound weight. He’d also allegedly sprayed him in the face with mace and tried to choke him.

The two men, according to court papers, were living together in a luxury apartment in New Jersey.

The bizarre case was remanded to trial by a pair of appellate judges on June 8th of this year. This followed a reversal of the restraining order by another judge who felt that Evan Chandler’s actions did not represent a pattern of abuse and didn’t qualify as domestic abuse. The appellate judges disagreed, reinstated the restraining order, and sent the case to trial.

These last judges sounded a little surprised in their ruling that the restraining order had been lifted in the first place. “The judge also found that the weight could cause serious bodily injury or death,” they wrote, indicating that they felt Evan Chandler meant to harm his son.

This means that soon enough Evan and Jordan Chandler will be in a public dispute in a New Jersey courtroom. For Jackson watchers, this is nothing short of shocking: the Chandlers have done everything possible to remain out of the public eye since settling with Jackson in 1994 for a little over $20 million.

In what has now been a much-reported story, Jordy Chandler, then 12 years old, alleged that Jackson molested him on numerous occasions between 1991 and 1994. His uncle, Ray Chandler, published a book about the case in 2005, as did Jackson’s longtime PR man, Bob Jones. Both books detailed Jackson’s inappropriate relationship with the boy; Ray Chandler’s book also recounted the negotiations with Jackson’s attorney, Bert Fields, and his investigator, Anthony Pellicano, by which his brother and nephew got the $20 million.

At the time of this episode, Evan Chandler was divorced from Jordy’s mother, June, who had custody of their son and conceded that she’d let Jackson sleep in the boy’s room in her house for months without supervision. Jackson was then about 35 years old. Subsequently, June Chandler was cut off from her son and as of last year had not seen or spoken to him in a dozen years. She testified to all of this in Jackson’s 2005 child molestation trial.

A falling out between Jordy and Evan Chandler of this serious a nature immediately reveals a couple of things: that at the age of 25 Jordy was still living with his father, and that they had settled into a luxury apartment in New Jersey with panoramic views of Manhattan.

Prior to this they had owned a beach house in Westhampton, New York, and had had an apartment in New York. Public records show, however, that Jordy sold the beach house for $2.9 million in 2003. He bought a condo for $775,000 in West Harlem in June 2005 one week after Jackson was acquitted of child molestation and about six weeks before he accused his father of attacking him. At the time he purchased the coop, Jordy gave a PO Box in Jersey City as his address. It’s only conjecture, but it’s likely that Evan Chandler—whom his brother Raymond had said in interviews was seriously ill in 2005—didn’t want his son to leave him.

News of the Chandlers’ domestic dispute comes as Jackson remains on the down-low somewhere in Europe, either in London or Dublin, as his lawyers try to work out what will become of his languishing career. Having beaten the child molestation charge, Jackson turned himself into a self-exiled celebrity. His Neverland Ranch was shuttered after California officials fined him for not paying his employees for four months and letting their insurance lapse. A $25 million lien was placed against Neverland in June in order to pay off one of Jackson’s attorneys. And a group of investors in Rancho Palos Verdes, California is currently holding a $2.2 mortgage on Jackson’s parent’s home in Encino, California.

"You compared a murder trial of someone else to the subject of this post".

I compared it with the murder trial to make a point that the U.S. justice system gives preferential treatment to celebrities. There are several other examples I could bring up this happening. This is a perfectly valid form of argument. And in fact, one would expect it wouldn't they? That you provide examples to support claims of U.S. judicial system bias?

"You were proved wrong about his love for animals, and his love for children."

I never said he didn't love children or animals. When it comes to children, he loved then a little too much and in inappropriate ways. Nothing has been said that has proven me wrong about anything. When it comes to animals, his love was wrongly expressed. People who truly love animals do not keep exotic animals locked up as pets.

"I say NO one can judge another, but have their respectful opinions."

And yet you have taken the liberty of judging me multiple times. Calling me "hateful", among other things. That's a bit hypocritical of you isn't it? You say no one can judge another and in the very same post, you judge me more than once.

Give me one reason I should hate him if it were not for what I consider to be overwhelming evidence that he committed terrible crimes and got away with them? Cause of what he looks like? I'm definitely NOT that shallow.

I have given you useful information as well, that you don't seem to want to accept. And that information is court documented evidence that suggests very strongly that inappropriate things were going on.

I thought you said you were done, "playing my childish games"?????????????

I just this was a false statement of yours, heh. No probs.

Please understand that the new posts topics are to STAY on topic of the news, this is how the site trys to manage news comments from getting problematic. So going off topic on a "murder trial" of "another person other than Michael Jackson" into such depths as you "tried" to go..., isn't within the guidelines. Each Case is Unique, and treated as such, when most make there opinions.

I consider our discussion to be an excellent indicator to me, of how much I have embraced patience, tolerance, and compassion. I can only control my own reactions, and not yours. You can choose to cast your stones or JUDGE another for the accusations from an embarrassed DA office or the tabloids or the corrupt media that love high ratings!

Sad, how the American Society rallys when a massive disaster hits this nation's shores, or rally around sites of news when something "not normal" (whatever that means) is being reported!

The death of an ICON, and many will slither out to condemn this man, even in death. The media will make tons of money on his death. You started out accusing him of being an animal abuser....., and animal abusers DON'T love animals.......

Your words carry strong INTENT of hate, and I did say this wasn't anything personal to you, if you reread these comments. Your information was rhetoric of desperate sources who TRIED to destroy this man. It is the MIND of a human being that will create thoughts, good and bad. Michael Jackson and I echo his quote as my position too, would slice our wrists, before we molested a child. YOUR mind holds the perversion of sex, not mine.

Like I said, LEARN, and use reliable unbias sources. You hold your ownself in this state of mind, and only you can bring clarity to your own mind.

"Please understand that the new posts topics are to STAY on topic of the news"

So you are the one who makes the rules for Care2 now? Ah. I didn't know anyone had placed you in charge of that. Thanks for letting me know. So since you have decided to quote rules for posting comments, perhaps you would care to quote the exact portion of the guidelines that say this? I sure can't find them. In fact, it looks like you just made this up to suit your purposes.

Again, it is NOT off topic to reference other cases in support of a point you are trying to make. It sounds like you never took any classes in logic while in college if you are still trying to nail me on this.

"I consider our discussion to be an excellent indicator to me, of how much I have embraced patience, tolerance, and compassion."

Pat yourself on the back a little more with your false self-flattery why don't you? You have been anything but tolerant. You've accused me of hatred, intolerance, fabrications, and getting information from tabloids, None of which you have provided any supporting evidence for, and much of which I have debunked. As I said, this is evidence on file with the Los Angeles Superior Court. And sorry to inform you, but fingerprint evidence does not lie.

"You started out accusing him of being an animal abuser....., and animal abusers DON'T love animals......."

Keeping exotic animals in the conditions he did IS animal abuse.

"Your information was rhetoric of desperate sources who TRIED to destroy this man."

Again fingerprint evidence does not lie. And I am still interested to know how the boy was able to describe makrings on Jackson's genitals if he had not seen them. None of these are things you have addressed. You just keep saying it is rhetoric of desperate sources who tried to destroy him, You haven't provided any evidecne to support that,

"Like I said, LEARN, and use reliable unbias sources."

I consider evidence on file with the Los Angeles Superior Court system to be reliable, I consider fingerprints to be unbiased. I'm sorry you do not.

Btw, that story about Jordon saying he lied when he claimed Michael Jackson molested him? It's a hoax. The site that published it has since admitted it was a hoax.

BTW, once again you are judging even though you have said no one has the right to judge anyone. You are judging everyone who accused Jackson as being a liar desperate to destroy him. Do yourself a favor and stop with this "I don't believe anyone has the right to judge anyone" rhetoric. You do it all the time, so do I, and so does everyone else. And society would not function if we didn't.

Btw Dar D., I find it interesting that you accuse me of getting information from tabloids, and then you take a story from the Global Grind and run with it (not exactly an upstanding reliable news site). As I said, the Global Grind has since admitted their "exclusive story" about Jordan Chandler saying he lied is a fabrication. Chandler released no such statement.

Now who is getting news from tabloids? Maybe you would do well to look at your own statement "LEARN, and use reliable unbiased sources".

there's a petition at the petition site to turn neverland into a memorial amusement park. sorry i don't know how to put up a link. it makes sense to turn it into another graceland in order to be sure the kids have a secure future.

The link to the petition is here: http://www.thepetitionsite.com/1/make-neverland-ranch-into-an-memorial-amusement-park

It's directed at the wrong person as Obama will have no say in what happens to Neverland. The creditors are going to be the ones that decide this, He owes his creditors $450 million. Debt you own to creditors survives your death. That probably means there will be an estate auction. If there is any money left, that is what the children will get (and whoever else is named in his will).

Whoever buys Neverland will decide what happens to it.

Gratitude seems to be hard for you to embrace. I am sorry that you must stay in denial, tabloids, hate and fear. I can't control that, but wish you blessings of healing...much love and peace...namaste

Thank you Catherine, I am very happy for this petition, that Teresa posted, PLEASE ALL SIGN, if you honor this man. Thank you to all the awesome activist that work so hard for truth and to help the suffering and dying. I am very GRATEFUL for those who work so hard for true change in this world.

Oh and Panthera, it is sooo obvious of your intent, as you go to other posts of Michael, JUST TO SLANDER HIM. Obsession to hate and slander an innocent man, no matter what you feel, shows some internal conflict within yourself. If you hate him so much, I can only suggest that focusing on matters that make you HAPPY, would provide a much better existence for yourself.

I have looked at the site guidelines for participating in discussions. There is nothing in them that states what you are saying. You claim there is. Quote it for me. You can't because it doesn't exist. I assumed nothing at all I LOOKED AT THE GUIDELINES. It's NOT THERE. If it is, quote it for me. As I said, you can't because it is not there.

Once again, all you do is make accusations against me about reading tabloids. I have pointed out you at least 10 times no that EVERYTHING I HAVE SAID HAS COME FROM DOCUMENTED EVIDENCE ON FILE WITH LOS ANGELES SUPERIOR COURT.

It has become obvious you are ignoring this though and you have not provided any evidence that anything I have said has come from tabloids. NONE.

You claim I am out to slander Michael Jackson, but you have not given any motive for why I would want to do so. You, however, HAVE REPEATEDLY SLANDERED ME in this thread by accusing me of reading and getting my information from tabloids. It comes from documented evidence on file with the Los Angeles Superior Court. You have been told this multiple times, and yet you ignore it, and continue to accuse me of getting it from tabloids. Perhaps I should be the one flagging you for your constant personal attacks on me which I have debunked multiple times by telling you exactly where my information comes from. Since being respectful of other people's opinions most certainly IS in the site guidelines.

"If you disagree with someones opinion, you are free to debate the position or argue against a viewpoint, but it is not appropriate to attack or belittle the person making the statement or presenting their opinion."

you have attacked and belittled me multiple times in this thread because you don't agree with my opinion of Jackson. You've accused me of being full of hate, not knowing how to get information from reliable sources, quoting tabloids, slander, etc. I've debunked multiple time that my information came from tabloids. But you ignore this and continue to belittle me. YOU are the one in violation of site the guidelines here. Not me. Since you are the one who is constantly attacking and belittling me because you do not agree with me.

btw,

"If you hate him so much, I can only suggest that focusing on matters that make you HAPPY, would provide a much better existence for yourself."

Focusing only on matters that make me happy will not solve the world's problems. Ignoring the thing that are wrong with the world will not make them go away. Ignoring things like the fact that we allow exotic animal trade (which is both immoral and unethical) is not going to make it go away.

Your motive is FEAR. This is the powerful catalyst for most reactions that are HATEFUL. Here is the proof, all your comments. Most who disagree, would state "he is guilty in my eyes, and I will never honor him", and then leave the news post, as those WHO DO AGREE, keep posting their support. You couldn't do that...heh. This is your obsession.

Focusing on hating Michael Jackson "WILL NOT SOLVE THE WORLD'S PROBLEMS."
Michael is DEAD, he needs no support from his haters.

Also, we aren't suppose to post about the guidelines, and are asked to just flag the comment. Please contact Care2, and they will direct you to their guidelines.

Please put down the tabloids, and continue your activism with strength of positive energy. When you were proven incorrect of your assumptions with his animals, you digressed to his genitals. Please. RE-READ your comments, and find peace. I am not debating you, heh. There is no debate, he was given a verdict of NOT GUILTY on all counts, but you just do want to accept the truth.

We all get it, Panthera, you feel he is an animal abuser, molests children, and more. You said it, many times. So you are debating yourself.

"Your motive is FEAR."

Once again, you judge me and my motives. Do you have a a degree in psychiatry?

And no, my comments prove nothing about my motive being fear. Your claim that it does doesn't even make sense. And sorry, but I am not one to state my opinions without supporting them, I'm a scientist. It's what my academic background is in. I do not state opinions without supporting them.

"Focusing on hating Michael Jackson "WILL NOT SOLVE THE WORLD'S PROBLEMS.""

You are right, It won't. But using it as an opportunity to raise awareness of the exotic pet trade and child molestation is fair game in my book. The fact that he is dead does not make him magically untouchable.

Where in the guidelines does it say we aren't supposed to comment on the guidelines? Now you are making a circular argument.

"Please put down the tabloids..."

Everyone here already knows I did not get this from tabloids. I've debunked it multiple times. So stop claiming that I did even though I have stated multiple times, and supported the fact that I did not. You are only making yourself look bad. You seem to be obsessed with accusing me of reading tabloids.

"When you were proven incorrect of your assumptions with his animals"

I was not proven incorrect. No one has shown any evidence that he had habitat enrichment programs in place. And there are definitely reports that he did not have them in place.

"There is no debate, he was given a verdict of NOT GUILTY on all counts, but you just do want to accept the truth."

Again, that doesn't mean he isn't guilty. Are you willing to go the other way on that as well? Everyone who has been found guilty really is? Mistakes can be made in both directions when it comes to the criminal justice system.

"So you are debating yourself."

You are right. I am. I'm the only one making any valid points anymore. You just keep giving your broken record slander attack against me of "put down the tabloids".

I have extensive knowledge of psychiatry, but that isn't the point, heh.

What exotic pets are you concerned with??????????????

No one knows where all of them went, just a few, so this "concern" of yours makes no sense, especially when he paid many workers to take good care of the animals. He loved animals, and you say he doesn't, so we should "agree to disagree" on that point, if that is possible for you.

YES, that does mean he isn't guilty, in this nation. You can have personal feelings, but that is just personal. It doesn't matter to me if you hate him your whole life, I can't control that, but I can support this ICON when the assumptions and "personal feelings" are born of fear and hate, along with the media tabloids that made the media RICH.

Calm down, breathe, and be happy

"What exotic pets are you concerned with??????????????"

Lions, tigers (both Bengal and Siberian), leopards, pumas, jaguars, and timber wolves. I volunteer at sanctuaries and have worked with all of these animals. I also specialized in carnivore conservation in college with a focus on large felines.

"He loved animals"

Most exotic pet owners love their animals. That does not make what they are doing right. It is immoral and unethical to keep these animals locked up as pets. I don't think anyone who "truly" loves animals would do this. So we can agree to disagree yes.

"YES, that does mean he isn't guilty, in this nation"

The reverse is also true then. In this nation anyone who is found guilty really is guilty. I asked you if you would agree with that statement, but you side stepped it.

Again, none of this is born of fear or hate, and it is not born of tabloids. It is born of evidence on file with the Los Angeles Superior Court system

Sorry, I misread the part of your last comment where you said "What exotic pets are you concerned with".

The answer is I am concerned with all of them. you are right, no one knows where all of them went. Some of them were auctioned off. No one know what happened to all of them

I am concerned with all of them. All of the ones Michael Jackson owned, as well as all of the ones that many other people around the country still own.

Great article Tere. Michael meant well with all his animals. He was kid like. Never grew up. Bubbles is in a sanctuary in Florida and very happy there. The rest are in zoos and other sanctuaries. It was hard to trace them all. I feel he regretted getting these wild animals. He did not realize what he was getting into. Everyone has their opinion on Michael and I for one liked him. He was never convicted on anything. He was deprived of his childhood and was abused by his father. People shouldn't be so harsh on him. He just never grew up and that is where Neverland comes in. RIP Micahel. You have so many that love you and you will always be The King Of Pop, never forgotten. Thanks for all your tributes to this legend Tere.

We don't know where ALL of them went.

And meaning well and doing well are NOT the same thing. You are right, he was like a little kid. Most kids get plush stuffed tigers as toys, Mihael Jackson got real ones instead. He was more concerned about himself and his own wants and desires than he was about the needs of the animals he bought

I cry for you today Michael!

I always have been a big fan. We are both children of the fifties, our generation, we both reached middle age. You were never allowed to be a child and as an adult, you just refused to grow up. The for ever child with the tragic life and the untimely death. You did what we all do: you tried the best you knew how. As we were young I followed you and your concerts: Rotterdam, Berlin, Barcelona, London. I looked up at you in astonishment and you never ceased to amaze me. You gave me some of the best times of my life! A true King of Pop! I thought about going to London for a final goodbye to you and to our youth. Too late. I will never forget you. Your feet will be swift, your voice will be clear, your socks will shine once more in heaven.
