I think this is such a wonderful gesture... And I can just imagine how delighted the little patients must have been when Captain Jack turned up to tell them bedside stories. :) Also, I'm so very happy Lily-Rose is well again. Johnny could hardly have donated his money to a worthier cause than for the Great Ormond Street Hospital.

What a heartwarming story! I'm sure the children were absolutely THRILLED that Captain Jack stopped by to read bedtime stories to them. I know I would be ;-) It's also nice to see someone very famous donating such a large amount of money to such a worthy cause. Great Ormond Street Hospital is one of the best!

Thank you Cissy ever so kindly for sharing this information....this is very happily noted..Just to know that actors "Real people" like Johnny Depp has given back to our society has touched my heart deeply..I have always thought what a really nice fella he is, and he sure has proved it over the years!..My congrats to the hospital for helping with his daughter, many blessings to her and also to the love of my life, "Mr. Johnny Depp" & wife..I have always liked him as a real person...yes, he is an excellent actor, but he is also a real person who cares..Thanks again for this article, just proves to me, that he was always the person I knew he is...Wonderful...Love you Johnny!...blessings to you,baby & wife...

IT WAS A "BRIGHT LIGHT", IN AN OTHERWISE GRIM TALE, THAT COULD HAVE TURNED OUT MUCH DIFFERENT. HOSPITALS & STAFF NEED RECOGNITION FOR THEIR HARD WORK. NOONE EVER WANTS TO SEE A CHILD SUFFER AND TO THINK THAT HIS GENEROUS GESTURE LED TO AN EVEN MORE GENEROUS GESTURE, JUST GOES TO SHOW HOW ONE PERSON "CAN" CREATE A SNOWBALL EFFECT TO AFFECT A CHANGE. PARENTS, WHOSE CHILDREN ARE HOSPITALIZED THERE, BUT DON'T HAVE THE MONEY TO DONATE, WILL BENEFIT AS WELL. IT'S A "WIN-WIN" SITUATION. GOOD FOR YOU JOHNNY!

I think it is great that although he has fame, wealth and such, he knows what really matters, stopping production on his movie to be by his daughter's side, then remembering those who saved his little girl. Way to go, Johnny Depp

Cissy, Thankyou for sharing this story!! I really love Johnny Depp and his acting, and I am a BIG Pirates of the Carribean 1, 2, & 3 movie fan, as well as a fan of the infamous sexy savvy Capt. Jack Sparrow!!!!! Whoohoo!!!!!! He is such a talented and amazing actor! His generosity is amazing, and it touches me when stars, actors, celebraties care enough to share some of the money that they earn to help others in need! Johnny Depp, your actions speak so loud and I love you even more now for being who you are, and giving of yourself!!!

For all those that criticise the publicity surrounding all this, we need to know who our hero's are these days and the children especially have to know that they do still exist, as one of Johnny's Anels I am proud to wear my bracelet and know that through him I get to help children in need of palliative care everyday..it also makes sense that Johnny is contributing to GOSH, after all he has played JM Barrie who has been the main contributor to the hospital. I work for people with Crebral Palsey and when a few of them were little they spent time in the hospital and have very fond memories of the place. I Love You Johnny for being the best.

Thanks for the news about a great gesture on the part of Johnny Depp. I'm happy that his little girl is doing fine. I have always loved his acting but more importantly I appreciate him as a real compassionate person who really cares about others.
