This year's Super Bowl will feature Ravens but no chimpanzees. CareerBuilder has announced that it will not run any of its longstanding series of commercials featuring chimpanzees during this year's game, according to a report

"CareerBuilder has not said that it is dropping chimps from marketing altogether, only that the company will not be advertising during this year's Super Bowl"
This makes me sick - they need to stop using chimps forever!

Please stop using these animals altogether. They deserve better. Thank you.

I am an avid animal rights activist, but I must speak up on behalf of CareerBuilder on this one. I greatly appreciate their listening to and respecting our complaints about those ads. To be honest, CareerBuilder has sent me some of the most positive job leads of any agency I am listed with. They do not use chimps on the website and I have not seen the advertise on local (Philadelphia) TV other than for the Super Bowl. Maybe we could lighten up?

Anyone who profits from an animal should be held responsible for it's lifetime care. I don't mind rescue sanctuaries who humanely rent out the services of their animals to earn money to support the sanctuary. But no one should be BREEDING these animals just to use and then throw away. Chimps ARE VERY DANGEROUS creatures when mature. I hate to think that any animal starring in an advertisement or even a movie could possibly end up unwanted and uncared for at the end of it's "career".

Computer generated graphics are so good that no animal needs to be ripped from its mother's side to turn it into an animal actor, that will be abandoned once it is too big to control during photo shoots!

Glad they will not use chimps in Superbowl commercials and hope they will retire this idea completely. There is a cough syrup ad I've seen that uses a computer generated chimp wearing a scarf. Much prefer this alternative.
