Tamara wants you to support a new law co-authored by Democrats and Republicans, designed to fix our political system and end corruption. Add your name now and be a part of a new law to get a government that will represent us, the people and get dark money

Gladly signed. It would be very nice if all citizens would drop their affiliations with a party and support legislation designed to reach the real problems of this country and not just to line someone's pockets, one way or another. Thanks much for bringing this to our attention, Tamara, and to Carole for forwarding.

Noted. Signed. I'm not at all confident that a political system dominated by two right-wing capitalist parties, extremist Republicans and the moderate Republicans more commonly known as Democrats, is actually capable of purging itself of corruption, but one can always hope.

Signed and shared, thx Tamara and Carole for heads up!
(But, frankly I consider this a futile endeavor, even if the masses, 1 million or even more can be mobilised, it will likely fail at points 4-5) Besides, it means that instead of PACS etc it will have to be YOU to fund elections, so better start saving now[ if you can].That is clearly stated in that act.)

My most sincere thanks to all who responded.

Yeah, I understand how many (including myself at times) may feel that these actions are hopeless . . .

BUT, because I feel the need to be true to myself and my beliefs, I will continue to be that ever-aggravating thorn in the side of those who disrespect human rights and dignity -- responding, instead, to the need for greed and self-serving control.

If we give that up, we may as well lay down and submit to being slaves.

More thoughts on the subject of futility . . .

I don't, necessarily, agree that one petition (or even millions of signers of same) will bring about "transformation." I do, however, believe that promotion of an ideal can cause others to comtemplate -- and hopefully, embrace -- the ideal presented.

For that very reason, I do endorse petitions, and active involvement, and promotion of those concepts.

Some seeds take longer to root -- but they never will unless planted, and germinated.

Absolutely right, Carole, and I cheer your principles, which I also share. I never suggested giving up, just trying to raise awareness for the need of EVERY AMERICAN to support this act and that means help funding. That's what a Co sponsor is asked and meant to do. ("Foster small donor contributions through citizen-funded elections. If we shut out all the corrupting money, we need to enable clean money. Because like it or not, it costs money to run for office.")
The problem is that this money will probably be used to again elect one of the two/one parties (as Brian accurately said) and will keep the only alternatives, the third parties, once more on the outside.

Carole, I have no doubt that 98% of americans right now already endorse this idea-except the politicians in power of course. The point here is $$ as without that nothing will get accomplished. The seed has been out there, shoudl be rooted by now as well, but we wion't see any plant growing from it unless the whole nation participates and I don't mean just signing on to something.
As long as the Roves and Kochs don't get eliminated the endless race of who can compete will go on and on..

You can only do as much as you can, with as much as you have.

Life is pointless without hope. (And there ARE those out there who have money, and may join in.)

In the meantime, we can only hope to sponsor awareness and awakening.

Thank you, dear friend.

I want to thank all of you for supporting this ideal, and especially Carole for forwarding this. It is important to remember that as a collective voice, we can make progress. I understand 100% what you are saying Angelika and I agree, it will take money and lots of it for this too succeed. But I thinks that most Americans have reached a point where they are so fed up with the "status quo" that we would all be willing to put forth as much as we can afford even if it just means a signature and educating as many others as possible. This country and her people are ready and willing to finally stand up and make our voices heard. It may take years for this to grow but as Carole has said, "life is worth nothing without hope" and we must keep a forward momentum if we are to ever regain our freedom from SuperPacs and corrupted government. WE ARE THE PEOPLE AND IT IS OUR RIGHT AND OUR DUTY TO FIGHT FOR EVERYTHING WE BELIEVE IN!

Signed, noted & shared. I would love to see every person in this country sign this, have it go to Washington and see their faces. A change this country severly needed. Thank you to Tamara, Just Carole and to Caitlin. I hope this works. I hope there are enough people out there willing to sign so we can knock these a**holes down a peg or two. Then maybe things can begin to go back to the way they should be.

Thank you Tamara for this and Just C for sharing. I support this fully and hope Rep. Jim McGovern bill
HJRES88 passes. I also passed around a petition to overturn Citizens United to do a constitutional amendment to do so. Corporations are not people and money is not free speech.

Cont:

If we are to change anything, it will take a coalition, a HUGE/ENORMOUS coalition. The players in this one are big, but are they big enough ? Can they gather MORE players and make a CONCENTRATED EFFORT to end this crap ? Face it....they are going to have to fight with the SAME RULES they are fighting against and within each of these DIVERSE, big to little groups is still the same mind set, I/me WANTS TO WIN....BE ON TOP. Example...I get tired of, say 20 petitions, saying the SAME THING with 50,000 signatures on each. We need ONE petition with MILLIONS of signatures on it.
The other side has had decades of practice and have a solid foundation. There is a long long way to go for the Dems.
Here's to hoping...but...SMH.

Noted and signed yet...
I most certainly do not feel represented by ANYONE in our government no matter how what I believe in gets shot down .
This is a wonderful dream and I certainly hope that dreams can fight reality but....
For yourself, go read some further articles on this and realize what WE THE PEOPLE are up against they have labeled this the Democratic Initiative.
An example...
We already have seen the filibuster portion of this go down in flames. Why ? There are 10 Dem seats considered “up for grabs” in 2014. The Repubs have 9 and they are considered “safe”. Do the math. If the Dems lose enough seats then THEY will want to play the SAME GAME. We'll trade nothing getting done for nothing getting done.
This is the EPIDOME of the definition of INSANITY.

Oooops
Split this up just in case it was too long then entered it backwards.
Duh !!!
LoL

Beverly, I -- for one -- appreciate your comments.

Yes, it's disheartening to see a government, with elected representatives -- paid for through our tax dollars -- smirk in our faces.

I don't blame you.

(But laying down and not responding is exactly what they want. At least, your words of dissent can be recorded.)

Noted ans signed- once. Might I suggest that signing more than once on any petition could result in said petition being deemed invalid due to duplication of names. If they are to be treated as valid petitions, someone could necessarily have to vet each signature. Why make their lives more difficult and risk invalidation of a petition? If I am incorrect, great, sign all you want. However if I am correct we could be undone by our own actions.
