So sad on all levels. At least these kids have been rescued even though there are countless others who are going through the same/similar circumstances. With the all too serious down-turn of our econmy I imagine their numbers will increase..some by force..other as a means of survival. Just too sad that there are 'children' who have no way out or other means of financial survial in a nation such as America...The way the economy is going these numbers will no doubt increase. For now, at least some have been rescued and to them that means 'the world' to those who have been. Sure , some might return but the majority I think will now have a fighting chance at life without fear and having to cope with child sex trafficking as their only mode of survival. I hope they keep these 'stings' going and perhaps even increase them, which is iffy at best with the cuts backs taking place daily in our government system in order to make sure the bankersters and those in the military complex industries have a most comfortable/profitable life.

Thank you Jae. I wonder what type of long term emotional damage has been done to these poor youngsters.

I'd like to know what drove these kids into this situation? If they come from dystfunctional families, then putting them back in that same environment will only drive them out again. The kids need time to heal and one big pile of love.

And the pimps, arrest them, convict them, and then put them in prison with Bubba.

Even tho' these teens have been saved, they have been traumatized emotionally and physically. They will need help to get through what they had just gone through. Often times these sex ring leaders will beat them as well to have control over them. It is a sad situation but at least they have been rescued. There are still countless more out there that need saving.

100,000 children a year are involved in prostitution each year - this is an incredible statistic. Are these run a ways? Are they sold by their parents, are their parents involved...? What a black mark on America.

This is a terrible story - good that these young people have now been released, but they will need a lot of careful help, therapy and relearning how to live from people who really know what they are about.

That this sort of situation happens at all is because there is a market for it. That is a damning indictment on those who use young people for sex. They, too, should be prosecuted for statutory rape if the young people were under the age of consent.

Good job FBI! I hope they get all the adults involved pimps and clients and give them all the MAX punishment allowed by law! As for the kids i pray that they get the help they will certainly need mentaly and i hope that their homes are checked out before they are sent back to see why it is they left in the first place! Thanks for posting this

It's a start. Let's hope these kids don't go back to the streets because they don't "fit in" or they have no where else to go. Thanks for the article Carrie.

What a disgusting statistic! I worked at a Rape Crisis center for awhile and this topic was part of my training.I was appalled when I learned of the incredible #'s of kids that are sold in sexual slavery. Yes, they have been terribly traumatized but they are survivors which is half the battle. Where there is breath, there is hope.

"The FBI has rescued 79 teens held against their will and forced into prostitution from hotels, truck stops and stores during a three-day swoop on sex-trafficking rings across the country.

The sex slaves were aged between 13 and 17, although one said she had been involved in prostitution since she was just 11, authorities said."

As good as this is, there is SO much more that needs be done. We should have special laws for child prostitution, for the pimps who recruit and enslave them and for the pedophiles who abuse them. A standard "john" sentence for this crime just doesn't seem enough to me, isn't enough for me. Crimes against children are crimes against nature, against all of us. Most of those men have families, with children, they should NOT be allowed to remain with those children, the hypocrites would attack anyone who threatened THEIR child but it is OKAY to abuse someone else's child? No, it is NOT. They are among the worst scum of the earth and deserve to be so treated, their names and faces on every newspaper in the country, in public service announcements on television, jail and humiliation are the fruits of their horror. I'm not usually so vengeful, but someone has to stand up for these children since their parents, can't or won't, and these despicable slime pimps and johns abuse them at will. Truck stops? For gawd's sake, truck stops? We have to worry about our children being safe around those who drive trucks for a living? What the hell have we come to be?

Thank you for exposing this Carrie. More needs to be done in this area. If we would put more money into this and less into wars we have a lot of unemployed people we could put to work saving these children and giving them the counseling and job training or education they need afterwards. So many good causes that the war machine takes from.

"EVERY GUN THAT IS MADE, EVERY WARSHIP LAUNCHED, EVERY ROCKET FIRED SIGNIFIES, IN THE FINAL SENSE, A THEFT FROM THOSE WHO HUNGER AND ARE NOT FED, THOSE WHO ARE COLD AND ARE NOT CLOTHED. THIS WORLD IN ARMS IS NOT SPENDING MONEY ALONE. IT IS SPENDING THE SWEAT OF ITS LABORERS, THE GENIUS OF ITS SCIENTISTS, THE HOPES OF ITS CHILDREN....UNDER THE CLOUD OF THREATENING WAR, IT IS HUMANITY HANGING FROM A CROSS OF IRON."
