Dogs and cats may not just provide your family with love and constant companionship -- they could also have a powerful effect on the health of children early in life, according to a small new study.

This has been floating around Care2 for awhile. Of course, children and pets mix for several reasons.

cats and dogs do make our life better. They get along with children very well.
Every parent should consider having a pet. Unfortunately this is impossible, I know.

Read & noted, thanks Carrie! Of course, we pet owners already knew all that. Growing up with & around pets/animals, does make children healthier, have much less allergies, teaches them compassion & nurturing, & makes better people all around! What you don't know, you can't understand. There is no better friend than your pet, anywhere. Who else can listen to everything & never judge you, always love you, always forgive you, overlooks your imperfections, stays loyal forever, doesn't care what you look like or how you dress. Children who grow up without animals are missing out on one of life's most cherished treasures & experiences.

This is so true but remember to keep cats away from babies cause they will suck the breath out of a baby if in their face. Watch how a cat does it to an adult and you will see what I mean. I've always had short haired cats and dogs cause of asthma and long haired animals triggered an asthma attack everytime.

Bravo Valerie on your comment........I highly agree and humans need to learn the peaceful ways of animals for animals are our true peace makers. If we learned of their peaceful ways, we just might experience World Peace.

People should not get an animal to help someone with their health because in the end the only one that is going to suffer is the animal and will end up in a shelter, and waiting to be put down!
