Taibbi writes: "What most voters don't know is the way Mitt Romney actually made his fortune: by borrowing vast sums of money that other people were forced to pay back.

From Matt Taibi: "I just think the one unanswered question that reporters just don't ask either of these people is—they're making their entire platform about debt. Paul Ryan, his entire political profile is based on this idea that he's an enemy of debt and a, you know, budget slasher. And Mitt Romney has—again, he's banked his entire campaign rhetoric on the sort of prairie fire of debt theme. And yet, this is a guy who spent—who made his fortune creating debt. Somehow, this question has not been asked to him. How is that not hypocritical? It hasn't been asked of either of them, and I would like to see the mainstream press at least ask that question. I think it's an ideal debate question that should be asked somewhere down the line."

Let's hope that someone from the mainstream media DOES have the guts to put Mitt on the spot by pressing him for an answer to this question! And while they're at it, they might want to make a bigger issue of his refusal to share his tax returns.

Thanks for posting this terrific interview, Carrie!

I hope others take the time to read this interview. It explains so many things that most of us have a difficult time understanding. It also paints a very different picture of Mitt Romney than the one he would like Americans to see.

Let those that have eyes to see, see.... if only they would! There is enough true information about this SOB - why is it that the main media aren't jumping all over it and trumpeting it to the world?!! (And someone extract his tax returns from whichever black hole they have been stored in. Isn't there someone with tremendous courage in the IRS who could help? They'd be a inter-national hero!).

Sorry Patricia, but it is against the law to disclose Romney's tax information without his permission. It would be great if someone inside his own campaign would leak some info, but it's just not going to happen.

Matt Taibbi, one of the best investigative reporters in the business, is one of the few who still go where they must in order to find the truth, and pulls no punches. This time he's exposed Romney's history at Bain to us, and thereby his lies. Thank you, Matt, for your consistently strong work. I, for one, am in your debt.
