Clinton will be there for Obama in Charlotte. But the big-tent, business-friendly wing of the party 42 built is long gone. How the death of Clintonism could be a major hurdle for the president this fall.

Clinton is the most respected statesman in the world. He is an American and global icon. When there are global negotions, they call Clinton - eg. hostage release. The Dems produce people like this. Too bad the repukes have no one except blustering Christ Cristie and dementia sufferer Clint Eastwood!

OMG - Clinton is the only impeached President to serve. He could have taken out Obama years ago, but, had other priorities- actually it was the Kentucky Derby when he did not to be disturbed.
GOD FOR BID if he is the most respected statesman in the world....he has offered nothing to this administration, and to his his wife who will not become a part of the next one.
Tell us again where Clinton is the "most respected statesman in the world"? He has given guidance, socialization, diplomatic support, to what nations?

Only Democrats who were faking it left the party when Clinton was impeached - and none of the dumba$$es who cricified Clinton for lying to CONgre$$ would Impeach Bu$h & Cheney for LYING to CONgre$$ about weapons of mass destruction!!! CONgre$$ has lower "respect" scores than Wall $treet Banker$!!!! So, YES, Obama NEEDS Bill Clinton, especially in Charolette!
“He devoted his candidacy to that forgotten middle class, it was a conscious strategy,” says Paul Begala, a key Clinton strategist, who now advises the super PAC supporting Obama (and who is a contributor to The Daily Beast).
People STILL trust Clinton with their Money, which he left in surplus, and their Social Security, they just don't leave him alone with their wives & girl friends!;)

As usual Yvonne, you are right. Clinton's sexual escapades are far less troubling than Bush"s starting a war based on lies and a personal agenda, and approving of torture.

Clinton's sexual escapades were a mark of his character and morality. In that book he sucks. But, you can't take away the fact that he's smooth and has a decent rep in the world that Obama can only hope for.

thanks....in the end both far better than either Bush/McCain/Robmey/RyanD/Palin or any GOPer.....

I am waiting for the future where we will finally have the great divides....Dems into Moderates and Progressive/Liberal Parties and GOP into Moderates and Tea-Party Parties.....then maybe the Moderates will merge and in the long run we will become more of a parliamentarian run Congress where no one will have a majority, but will have to compromise and work together with fringes being way off the ends of the spectrum....
